I got some black and white leather ones yesterday. Love the way they look, and they are good on my wide feet, but they are SO stiff. Does anyone have them and has softened them up successfully?

I have them. They are super uncomfy at first, but stick with it! I wore mine with thick socks until I wore them in and now they're my everyday shoe. Took about a week of daily wear for them to soften.

I have some (V10s). It took weeks to wear them in - and I still have to sort of weirdly tuck the tongue down, it’s too long - but they did end up very comfy.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/08/2019 17:54

I managed 10,000 steps in them this afternoon, but the top of my poor toes is so sore! Good to know they get there though.

mine are still in the box. have been since a year ago. maybe i should persevere 🤨

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/08/2019 22:23

merry get them out - we can support one another through this difficult breaking in period like people do on diet threads! I love them, and am determined to crack it. I put an insole in because I felt like the footbed was so flat, but I think that has probably contributed to the rubbing on my toes.

Mine were pretty comfy from the start apart from the rock hard over-long tongue. It cut into the front of my leg. Damn thing! I had to wear sports socks to protect my legs. Still wear the socks as I'm not willing to risk my legs without them. Which means I don't wear them very often as it's a faff and I hate how the socks look. I can get away with them with jeans or leggings but skirts and dresses are a no-no.

Blueandredandblue · 03/08/2019 15:26

I have some Campo trainers on pre-order. But I'm used to breaking 8n DMs so I'm hoping it won't be too bad

championquartz · 03/08/2019 20:49

I have V10s from last year. They’re comfy this yearGrin

Seriously tho, they were so uncomfortable at the start, I considered returning but I missed the return date, yadda yadda. So I stuck with them. They were like cardboard initially and the tongue really irked me - it was so long. But they did become comfortable and now I love them.

goose1964 · 04/08/2019 00:14

I won a pair years ago. I normally have super awkward feet that any shoe rubs, but these didn't.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/08/2019 00:17

Funnily enough, the tongue isn’t bothering me. I will persevere!

@Judystilldreamsofhorses i managed about an hour in them today! stiff and flat and i'm not yet convinced. also they feel so long on my feet for some reason .. but the size below was waayyyyy too small.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/08/2019 20:04

merry good work trying them again - I put a sheepskin insole in them (it was all I had, possibly a bit hot for just now!) which helped with the flatness. I am going to give mine another go tomorrow. Is it the white sole that makes them look long? My feet are small (4) and I measured them against my Stan Smiths, they are exactly the same size!

I have Esplars and although they're leather they never softened up they just have kind of cracked in various places. They're nice but I'd never buy again (sorry)

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/08/2019 00:07

I never made it through the breaking in period, it went on too long and I wished I'd not kept them Envy. I loved them and they looked great with most of my outfit combos but I always took them off before going out because I can't deal with blisters Blush. Hope you make it through OP!

CountFosco · 05/08/2019 07:16

I've just bought a pair of Esplars and the tongue annoyed me when I first put them in but wore to work on Friday and they seemed fine once they warmed up a bit. I like how flat they are (like converse) though so didn't have an insole, sure if I had an insole in that would reduce the space in the toe box.

Threeguysmommy · 05/08/2019 07:22

Have the v10s found them comfy enough bar the occasional tongue shifting to the side issues BUT I can’t keep trainer socks on with them which drives me bonkers. They keep slipping off under my heel but don’t with other trainers I have - any recommendations on ones that stay on??

chasingseagulls · 05/08/2019 10:09

I've said this on another Veja thread, but I think they are more like shoes than trainers in terms of fit and comfort. They look like trainers, but have none of the technology that makes the likes of, say, Nike, Adidas, New Balance etc possible to walk for ages in. I have V10s and I'd no more walk long distances in them than I would loafers or ballet flats.

Once you adjust your mindset to wearing them like shoes, it helps, but if you bought them as a comfortable trainer option, for walking lots in, you're buggered.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/08/2019 21:52

I think that’s a good point, chasing. I wear Adidas Stan Smiths, Continental 80s, and Nike Air Max a lot, so I have plenty of more trainer-y trainers.

count yes, the insole is giving me less toe space. I need a less bouncy insole, maybe. They are definitely too flat for me with nothing, I wouldn’t be able to wear Converse either.
