Suncream and white clothes

All my white clothes always get covered in sun cream! Should I apply naked, wait to dry then dress? Is there a good cream with minimum marks on clothes? (I use factor 50...) How do I get stains out of clothes? I can't be the only one!

Following with interest because this drives me mad. Nasty yellow stains even when I think I've let the cream dry in before dressing. I've tried Ariel, Daz and Vanish and drying in the sunshine and nothing ruddy works.

Yes my children’s schools shirts are all yellow.

I have found soaking in vanish oxy white then washing lifts the stain some, then hanging out on a sunny day. But this isn’t ideal!

Moomin37 · 02/08/2019 08:39

It's a pain and another thing I hate about summer! The only thing that seems to work (ish) is Vanish spray followed by the 2.5 hour stain wash our washing machine does (with plenty of Napisan added). I find the Boots 8 hour factor 50 suncream is the worst and I keep thinking of trying P20 but not sure if it's any better for not marking/staining.

I haven’t tried this myself yet, but soaking in white vinegar is supposed to help remove sun cream stains. I’m going to try this later as we are just back from a holiday and have quite a few white t shirts that are marked.

The Altruist Spray doesn’t mark white clothes.

Solonelywastheballard · 02/08/2019 11:44

I used an in wash bleach.

It turned the stains pink, then when I dried on the line in the sun the smaller stains on clothes were gone but, the giant stain baby DD left on my duvet didn't budge.

P20 is a nightmare for staining!

TheDogsMother · 02/08/2019 15:34

P20 leaves terrible yellow stains

ButterflyWitch · 02/08/2019 15:36

try using washing up liquid to get suncream stains out before washing

Wooterus · 02/08/2019 16:39

I've had some success spraying P20 stains with WD40 (I know...!) and then washing in a bucket with washing up liquid, then straight into washing machine and washing as normal.

Still can't get the pink stains out of my favourite blue and white striped bikini though Angry

Midnightmouse · 02/08/2019 16:55

Many places we visit explicitly say ‘no P20’. It’s awful stuff.

ZazieTheCat · 02/08/2019 17:03

Badger Balm Clear Zinc doesn’t stain white either. Does mark darks tho’.

NC4this123 · 02/08/2019 17:05

Washing up liquid will get it out and anything else oil based
