Hair dye question...?

Can you dye over copper coloured hair? I’ve attached a picture so you can see the colour I currently am. I’m thinking of a medium/chocolate brown.

Yep I dye over dyed hair all the time. You’re going darker so shouldn’t be a problem.

Ok that’s good to know thank you!

Yes you can. If you want to get rid of the red/copper tones go for a dye with the word ‘ash’ in it so medium ash brown. That will neutralise the copper tones. If you just want just more of a brown colour, but still keep the warmth of the copper tones a regular medium brown colour should do the trick, but remember, browns do tend to come out darker than shown on the box, so a medium brown may come out very dark, like a ‘cool’ brown, will definitively get rid of all the copper tones but will almost certainly come out very very dark brown, near black. Of course I’m talking about permanent colours, if you’re unsure, go with a semi first. Having said all of that, I do like your current colour!

Thanks youvegottobekidding that’s really helpful. I’m thinking of a regular medium brown as i still want the warmth in it. Definitely don’t want to go too dark - that I’ve done before & does not suit me.
Some days I love the colour I am & other days I’m fed up with it & just want to be bog standard brown. I’m terrible with my hair!
If I do decide to go for it I will definitely try a semi-permanent first as you say.
