What product do you use to remove make up?

I use to use simple wipes, but heard wipes are really bad for your skin so decide to stop using them & give the BS Camomile balm a go, before I go any further my skin isn’t great anyway, but ive seemed to of developed more under the skin little whiteheads. I’m guessing the balm has caused these spots. Confused
Can anyone recommend anything else I could try?

Micellar water is what you need. I still use Bioderma but there are loads of brands doing it now, I think the Simple one is meant to be good. Have also just switched from normal cotton wool pads to the reusable kind and they seem to be getting the job done!

I use the Clinique cleansing balm. I really like it, and find it helps my skin lots. I have oily combination skin so it sounds quite similar. I have read that the body shop one isn't great for oily skins.

IloveSaturdays1 · 30/07/2019 22:51

I use Kiko make up remover and it's absolutely great. I've tried other brands in the past and so far Kiko is my favourite :)

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 30/07/2019 22:54

Nivea 2in1 cleanser & toner (not really for the toner but it's less heavy than the cleanser on its own, which my skin prefers) massaged in well and then wiped off with a warm wet flannel. My skin is sensitive and prone to white heads when it gets upset but this keeps my skin happy and smooth and spot free, without costing mega bucks.

When I occasionally want a deeper clean, i use friendly soap's face soap which is also good. I doubt it's much good for dry skin though

RavenLG · 30/07/2019 22:57

Magic Eraser face cloth and soap. Skin is great (baring the odd hormonal spot).

QueenoftheNowhereverse · 30/07/2019 22:58

What’s your skin type? I’ve got normal / combination - bit oily on the nose and chin, odd spots appear there. I use garnier micelles water with the pink lid (not the yellow liquid one, that ones awful). I tried the Boots one, the Nivea one and this worked best for me. Usually get it in Home Savers for a massive bottle for £5
I then either use a gentle scrub (Superdrug Vit C) if my skins looking a bit bland or more often Olay cleansing milk. I use a flannel (bulk buy in Ikea) as I read Sali Hughes which says the flannel texture is good for sloughing off dead skin. I’m not big on the hot washes like Liz Earle’s etc

Loyaultemelie · 30/07/2019 22:58

Trevarno rose and jojoba cleanser I used reusable makeup pads at first but they got quite yucky even washed so now use reusable wipes instead

bonzo77 · 30/07/2019 23:01

Admittedly I only wear make up rarely.... when I do I use soap and water to get it off. Wash once then repeat with a muslin cloth.

EyeDrops · 30/07/2019 23:40

Ponds Cold Cream. Massage a good dollop in, brush my teeth, hot flannel off. It gets every scrap off and leaves my skin lovely.

FamilyOfAliens · 30/07/2019 23:43

Dermologica and cotton wool.

AngeloMysterioso · 31/07/2019 00:01

Clinique Take The Day Off Balm, followed by LRP Toleriane.

RidgedPerfection · 31/07/2019 06:19

Superfacialist Vitamin C oil used with a flannel, it smells and feels gorgeous and takes every scrap off.

SheeshazAZ09 · 31/07/2019 06:21

Dr Hauschka Soothing Cleansing Milk for face and olive oil for eye makeup. All applied with fingers and wiped off with tissue.

SamanthaBrique · 31/07/2019 06:28

Wipes aren't particularly bad for your skin but they're bad for the environment!

BeverlyGoldberg · 31/07/2019 06:37

Don't spend a lot of money on cleansers as they just end up down the sink. Get a standard nourishing cleanser from a brand like Nivea or No7 then invest in skincare that actually stays on your skin like a hyluronic acid serum (snowing my age here!).

Pinkarsedfly · 31/07/2019 06:38

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, followed by LRP Effaclear. I double cleanse.

I used Emma Hardie for ages but found it was making my skin very oily.

origamiunicorn · 31/07/2019 06:48

This is great for face makeup but what about mascara? The only thing that gets my mascara off is wipes.

maloofhoof · 31/07/2019 07:02

I use Nivea double affect eye make up remover for mascara.

BeverlyGoldberg · 31/07/2019 07:04

Look for a eye make up remover that has oil-ish solution in it @origamiunicorn you'll know it when you see it as half the solution floats on top of the other half - if that makes sense - if not let me know and I'll take a photo of the one I am currently using.

Clinique do a purple coloured bottle called something like Take The Day off. The milky opaque coloured bottle is the cleanser but the translucent bottle one is the eye make up remover and it will remove anything!

For a more budget friendly option Nivea do one very similar which has blue coloured solution and clear coloured solution floating in the bottle (needs a good shake!).

No7 do one too - again blue and again very effective.

A couple of dabs of any of the above on a cotton pad will get anything off AND be loads kinder to your eye skin (and the environment).

Deathraystare · 31/07/2019 07:06

I prefer one of those 'duo' cleansers for waterproof make up first. Bi-facial? Nivea do one and Lancome. I only use waterproof mascara and ordinary micellar water doesn't cut it (and makes my face dry). However, last night out of necessity I used the Garnier cleansing milk (the rose one) then Decleor rose miscellar water. Both did the job. I also use the Garnier oil miscellar water (the amber coloured one) first and then either a toner or another miscellar water.

I also use Liz Earle's cleanser which is very good.

IdaDown · 31/07/2019 07:11

Liz Earl cleanse & polish.

origamiunicorn · 31/07/2019 07:14

Thank you @maloofhoof also...

Ah yes I know what you mean, I'll give that a go, thank you. I can never get on with creams as I always get some in my eye Blush

Chaosandmadness · 31/07/2019 07:17

Another vote for Liz Earle cleanse and polish. You can use it on your eyes too without any stinging. And if you're really clumsy like me you can even get a big blob of it in your eye without it stinging Grin

ElizabethMainwaring · 31/07/2019 07:21

Garnier micellar water is the best in my opinion. I've tried several including Nivea and sanctuary. It works immediately and gets rid of everything. Cheap too.

Tinks15 · 31/07/2019 07:34

Thanks very much all, I don’t want to spend too much at the moment incase I don’t get on with it. I just want to find something that’s gentle yet effective. I really don’t want to have to buy two removers either I.e one for my face & one for my eyes.
