What product do you use to remove make up?

I use to use simple wipes, but heard wipes are really bad for your skin so decide to stop using them & give the BS Camomile balm a go, before I go any further my skin isn’t great anyway, but ive seemed to of developed more under the skin little whiteheads. I’m guessing the balm has caused these spots. Confused
Can anyone recommend anything else I could try?

I use unperfumed baby wipes, cheap & does the job, if it is safe for a baby's skin it is ok on my face. I don't have any breakouts of spots, I used to use clinique & my skin was terrible with that brand.

@origamiunicorn the Nivea one is one you have to shake, best one I've tried

Liz Earle cleanse and polish with a flannel

titsbumfannythelot · 31/07/2019 08:05

Body shop camomile cleansing butter melts off make up including mascara. I use superdrug hot cloth cleanser as s second cleanse in the evening.

Micellar water gave me awful dry skin around my eyes that lasted for a long time, I wouldn't recommend using that.

Parkmama · 31/07/2019 08:20

Ooooh the reviews of that body shop camomile cleansing butter are amazing, I'm going to try it. Thanks!

borntobequiet · 31/07/2019 08:22

Simple micellar water is pretty good but I just bought some Avene micellar water and it's better...but much moe expensive...

Tinks15 · 31/07/2019 08:23

That’s what I’m currently using Parkmama as I noticed the reviews that’s what made me try it - just doesn’t agree with me clearly.

Think I might try the Nivea one!

White bar soap and water. I don't wear waterproof mascara so it's easy to remove.

user159 · 31/07/2019 08:24

The tropic cleanser is great at getting off make up including mascara. It's a bit more expensive but does make my skin feel amazing when used with the bamboo cloth.

PixieLumos · 31/07/2019 08:25

Bodyshop seaweed face wash is amazing, I’ve been using it for almost 10 years.

CalamityJune · 31/07/2019 08:25

Elemis cleansing balm removed then an Elemis cleansing milk. Always use a flannel

ooooohbetty · 31/07/2019 08:25

Wipes aren't good because they only get what's on the surface off so they don't cleanse your skin properly. I used to use Liz Earl hot cloth cleanser with a Muslin wipe but now use the Superdrug equivalent which is just as good and much much cheaper.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 31/07/2019 11:32

For those of you who use the dual-phase eye makeup remover, Lidl do their own brand of this and it's fab. It's all I use now to remove waterproof mascara etc. Give it a try, your wallet will thank you for it Smile

Once I've removed my eye makeup, I cleanse with either The Body Shop Camomile balm or Superdrug's Hot Cloth Cleanser using a facecloth rinsed through in hand-hot water. I stock up on the facecloths in Ikea and use a fresh one every day. In the morning I just wash my face with water and pat dry.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 31/07/2019 12:38

Coconut oil Smile

Tinks15 · 31/07/2019 12:57

Would Olay cleansing milk be ok for my skin? I have quite an oily t-zone & prone to breakouts occasionally. Would it clog my pores?

I've tried loads but the best value by far I think is garnier micellar water (the original one with the pink lid). It takes all of my make up and mascara off, unless I am wearing waterproof mascara, which needs something oil based. Boots usually has an offer on. You could buy a 100ml or 125ml size for less than £2 and see if you like it. I think the 400ml is about £6.

Bioderma micellar water is very good, but maybe five times the price, so I have only bought that once.

Apolloanddaphne · 31/07/2019 13:03

I use inexpensive eye makeup remover for my eye makeup. Then i use a Clarins cleanser and toner for normal/dry skin followed by moisturiser. I also like L'Occitane Shea butter cleanser/toner and moisturiser. I find micellar water to be very drying and it makes my skin feel sore.

IssyM · 31/07/2019 13:06

Primark cleansing cloths and water. I was so sceptical but they are brilliant. My skin has never been cleaner, takes off mascara and everything. Around £3 for 3 cloths and just wash in the machine.

qj17 · 31/07/2019 13:08

Micellar water. I always used Johnson's wipes but since I switched my skins never been better and it gets all the mascara off that a face wipe sometimes doesn't.

Kitsmummy · 31/07/2019 13:10

Another Clinique Take The Day Off balm here...it's incredible. I've never found a cheap remover that takes my eye make up off well so it's one thing I don't compromise on

TheCatThatDanced · 31/07/2019 13:17

I tend to follow a mixture of the advice here!

Nivea 2 in 1 with reusable pads for makeup and Nivea/L'oreal etc separate for eye makeup.

If I'm doing a double cleanse then any cleanser (currently Sainsbos face wash but also used Aldi Lacura) with flannel.

I like using Una Brennan's Superfacialist Vit C cleanser in combo with above too.

I've tried the micellar water too but heard by Sali Hughes that remnants could remain after cleansing??

Clarins One step facial cleanser with orange oil is a dual phase cleanser (not sure if any good on eyes?) which I've used and reused and once I have a bit more money will definitely repurchase.

RezCowgirl · 31/07/2019 13:24

Coconut oil or jojoba oil.

justilou1 · 31/07/2019 13:32

Keep using the BS cleansing balm to break up your makeup, but then wash it off with a gentle foaming cleanser. Nothing too stripping. I love the Neutrogena hydroboost one.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 31/07/2019 13:37

Baby lotion to remove eye make up (used it for 20 years)and it gets everything off plus its moisturising too.Micellar water for face
