What product do you use to remove make up?

I use to use simple wipes, but heard wipes are really bad for your skin so decide to stop using them & give the BS Camomile balm a go, before I go any further my skin isn’t great anyway, but ive seemed to of developed more under the skin little whiteheads. I’m guessing the balm has caused these spots. Confused
Can anyone recommend anything else I could try?

Liz Earle cleanse & polish. I was sceptical at first but I wouldn't use anything else now! Gets rid of everything, including waterproof mascara but gentle on your skin (I've got really sensitive skin but this is still fine).

dual phase eye make up remover - I like the Clinique one although am using L'Oreal at the moment.

Nivea daily cleansing wash in the morning.

Micellar water to take make up off in the evening - I like Garnier or B (Superdrug own brand) - then cleanser. I used the Nivea 2 in 1 for a couple of weeks, but found it brought me up in quite hard painful spots on the chin (and I never get spots) so today have bought the Nivea Sensitive Cleansing Milk which I have used before and which I like.

Use blephasol for eyes and then ponds cold cream for face and neck.

evilharpy · 31/07/2019 14:14

Nivea double effect for eye make up
Avene extremely gentle cleanser for the rest
Aldi or Superdrug dupe of Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser a few times a week

And sometimes I just wash with Dove bar if my skin feels a bit grubby or greasy.

Goats milk soap in the shower and a face cloth. My skin does not like much. I bought six bars this morning.

Another Clinique Take the day off user here too and then use Superdrug hot cloth cleanser. So I do a double cleanse when I've had makeup on.

yips · 31/07/2019 14:34

The Garnier gel one, it's amazing - doesn't make my eyes burn yet takes off every bit of makeup.

DaffyDuck473 · 31/07/2019 14:42

I have skin like yours and I only use micellar water by simple, it really helps I've used it for ages now.

Sunnyrose · 31/07/2019 14:53

Me too @Nat6999 .. I'll sometimes use steal off DD Weleda Aknedoron cleanser as that really removes any grime!

Tarano17 · 31/07/2019 15:02

Have you got an Aldi near to where you live? Aldi have great cleansers which are suitable for sensitive skin and have leaping bunny on them. They do a cheap version but just as good if not better of Lizs Earle’s cleanse and polish. You can also order online. If you want something that works and is cheap I would advise Aldi.

Tinks15 · 31/07/2019 21:18

Looks as though Micellar water is really popular, shall have a look at this.
As I use ELDW i double cleanse anyway. So always give my face a good wash after removing make up.
Finding a good face wash is another saga 🙄

DHC cleansing oil to break down makeup and sunscreen, and bioderma gentle foaming face wash (in the pink bottle, not the blue one) to wash it all off. I have combination /oily skin, that is fussy and prone to spots if i use the wrong thing, and this combination works well for me.

Monikita · 01/08/2019 09:43

I use tubing mascara so just warm water to take it off. Coconut oil for my face. Remove it with a hot flannel and then use warm water for a final rinse.
I then moisturise with pure aloe vera gel and more coconut oil. I have oily / combination skin and the only time I've had a spot in years is when I tried a 'proper' cleanser and 'nourishing' oil.

Chochito · 01/08/2019 13:37

I don't wear make-up every day, but when I do I remove it with the Garnier Micellar water with added oil. I have dry, slightly sensitive skin on my face and this product keeps it well hydrated. A little goes a long way too!

Consider using a washable cloth rather than cotton wool pads or anything else you need to throw away.

Chochito · 01/08/2019 14:06

This one. It doesn't actually have that huge oil slick on the top, either! Just those floaty circles of shiny oil like puddles used to have in the 1980s.

Tigger001 · 01/08/2019 14:09

I use simple followed by their cleansing, toning and moisturising products and they are great.

SteelRiver · 01/08/2019 14:20

To get make up off, I use Dermalogica's Pre Cleanse. It's an oily liquid that I massage all over my face, then I add water and it turns into a milky liquid. Its splashed off with warm water and always gets rid of any make up I have on. You could use another cleanser or exfoliant afterwards, but I often find I don't need to.

Tinks15 · 01/08/2019 21:04

Hi all, bought some micellar water today going to give that a try.

Monikita - which pure aloe Vera gel do you use?

Howaboutthisone · 01/08/2019 22:33

No matter what else I try from cheaper brands to high end, nothing else makes my face feel like it's fully rid of all of the make up (I wear DW too OP) and fresh feeling like the Clean and Clear sensitive liquid stuff (blue coloured) that I first used age 15. I'm now almost 39 and have stopped trying out other stuff and just stick to this. It's brilliant! I do however always use the Nivea two layer one for my eye make up. Cheap as chips both and I've found nothing with a patch on either!

strongnosugar · 01/08/2019 23:11

Another vote for the Simple micellar - the hydrating, blue lid not the green lid- I used to use the Bioderma Hydrabio but have found the Simple as good and better value ( often offers in Superdrug) I do also use a balm a few times a week, removing quickly with a hot flannel. I have found BS, Neil’s Yard and MnS Pure range good.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/08/2019 23:23

Nivea eye makeup remover.
Garnier micellar Water to remove makeup
Cleanser to actually cleanse - either an oil (Chanel) or a balm (M&S Pure) depending on how my skin feels.

In the morning I use Clarins Pure Melt, which the sales consultant told me the other day has been discontinued. Any alternative suggestions? I have one full one stashed and a tiny bit of my current one left.

You know when you go on holiday to Lanzarote and do that tour of the volcano and the 'amazing green lake', and then they squeeze a whole bus into the aloe vera shop? Well, I went there and got some and haven't looked back!

Tinks15 · 05/08/2019 21:05

Brilliant thanks for this Monikita I was only in Lanzarote back in June if I had known this I would of brought some back with me!

I know how amazing the Aloe Vera is when you have sunburn so will definitely be ordering this to try out.

coconut oil and a warm flannel - works really well
