The difference between a kimono and a dressing gown

So I bought this.. like the print. I know it’s being sold as a dressing gown but wondered if I could wear it as a kimono over jean shorts and t-shirt. Honest opinion... is it definitely a dressing gown?!

I think a day-clothing kimono is usually a little shorter, but I don't think it would look odd over clothes. Cool print!

I have a beautiful one from One Hundred Stars but DS takes the piss when I wear it and says it's a dressing gown so I know what you mean. I think that looks fine. Pretty colour.

Thanks all. I think if someone else wore it I’d probably think it looked lovely but I don’t think I’ll shake the feeling of it looking like a dressing gown. So it’s going back.

I think it's lovely.

however, I must be honest - I try to avoid going out in the evening Blush and haven't really seen anyone wearing a tied kimono like this. They probably do and I just haven't seen it - I tend to see the ones like the one MN gave a discount on, worn with jeans etc.

this is lovely though.

Where I live you see women wearing pyjamas and dressing gowns and slippers around town. I think these kimono's (while very pretty) look like a trendy version of my neighbours fleecy wraps.

July is it a naice area?

Thanks for posting OP

I’ve ordered it now! My first time buying one, will only wear around the house but it will make quite a change for me to look vaguely glam Grin

It's a ashamed you're sending it back, I think it's a great find to wear as a kimono.
