Foundations!

I started a thread about Maybelline Fit me as I thought it sounded like an ideal foundation, I did try a little bit on the back of my hand but I could find a good colour match so I didn’t purchase it.

I’m mid 40’s with normal to dry mature skin. I think my main issue is I don’t like the feel of heavy foundations, but I want to look as if I have make up on as whenever there’s a photo taken of me, it doesn’t look as if I’m wearing any make up & I look horrendous! But, I feel like if I apply too much I look much older!

I’m of a fair, but not entirely pale complexion, I have freckles which I don’t mind if they show. I can only probably describe my face as as an empty crisp packet at the moment, yes I feel that fed up at the moment! Once my foundation is on, I usually set with powder & I have tiny light hairs, so I tend to look ‘hairy’ as well ugh!

I want to look like I have a bit of colour, my sil always looks great with her make up, she’s of a similar colouring to me, but I think she uses a foundation which is a lot darker & wears much more of it, but she is a bit younger than me so can probably get away with it.

I’ve looked at CYO Lifeproof Foundation, they seem to have some good reviews. I can’t afford £££ so what other brands could I try? What’s Rimmer Wake Me Up like?

I normally wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser which is incredible. It doesn't give heavy coverage at all but can be built up with a beauty blender.

I also have No 7 Hydraluminous which I bought after seeing recommendations on here. It's lovely; higher coverage than the LM stuff but still a really fresh, dewy look.

I have dry skin (am mid 40s) and I love Boots No 7 Lift & Luminate foundation. They colour matched for me and it was (surprisingly!) a perfect shade. I love it as an everyday foundation it gives me good coverage with a lovely luminous finish. Strangely although I liked the sample of No 7 Hydraluminous, I bought the full size tube and have been really disappointed. For me, it dulls after a short while and is not at all 'luminous' Confused

For more staying power and an even better finish (i.e. for special occasions or nights out!) I love Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear.
