Does anything help hormonal acne? (Apart from the pill)

Pre and during my period I get large painful spots. Some are cysts, some are just large red lumps on my neck/jawline. Salicylic acid products which I use the rest of the time doesn’t do much on them. I don’t want to be on contraception long-term, for various reasons. Have you found anything that works?

Lymecycline helped mine but unfortunately nothing I've tried has been as effective as hormonal contraception.

Giving up dairy and cutting down wheat was the single biggest thing that cured my hormonal acne, after years of Dianette and trips to the doctor. Soya also causes breakouts, it does something to your hormones, so switch to another non dairy milk rather than soya.

Vitamin A prescription helped, but after 2 children I haven't had any come back yet

No sugar or dairy.
DIM supplement
African Black soap

This combo has been so effective after decades of Dianette, constant antibiotics and two courses of Roaccutane. Acne always came back untik I changed diet and took DIM. Hormonal acne has to be treated from the root cause which is oestrogen dominance and insulin overstimulalation.

Thanks - what non-dairy alternatives do you use?

JM what is DIM? Thank you.

Definitely going dairy and gluten free. The difference is incredible. I used to get hormonal acne so badly around my chin that I wouldn't even leave the house. Cutting these out has completely transformed my skin

Another vote for no gluten or dairy. In the meantime a hydrocolloid plaster left in overnight can work wonders.

Calamine lotion.....no really! Slap it on thick overnight for 3 night....then you will see a huge difference, literally cleaned mine right up!!!!!! It’s also £1
