Why do bikinis cut into the arse so much?!

Has anyone managed to find one that doesnt?

I like my bum, it's one of the few things I actually don't mind about my body. But put me in a bikini with the right elastic round the arse bit and I have four bumcheeks! I just want something like french knickers where there's no elastic anywhere but the waist (no lacey frills obviously) Grin

Am I searching for something that doesn't exist?

I have a huge collection of Bikini’s and have never had one cut in to me!

My favourite are from Liz Hurley. They are made very well and look lovely on.

Freya and Marissa are lovely if you do buy from her website.

Thanks - will have a look. I thought this was a universal problem! It's possibly because my bum is quite big for my frame, but I didn't think it was all that unusual.

All my bikinis have tie sides so I can decide how tight I want them.

Would you wear a full brief style? I get mine from Curvy Kate. No digging in and a nice fit. The bras/bikini tops are bigger chest/cup sizes but the bottoms are 'normal' sizes, 8-20 I think. I buy from brastop, not sure if sale is still on?

Otherwise have you tried Lands End? They have a good range and are always talking about swimwear being 'tugless' presumably means your not constantly pulling it down over your arse!

I agree with pp that side tie bottoms are the way to go. I hate that cutting into the hip/bum cheek thing that some knickers/bikini bottoms do, and side ties prevent this.

Gerbi1 · 28/07/2019 23:39

I think you just need the next size up

I find it so annoying that most bikinis have tiny pants for bottoms. Much prefer a short like you describe. So I bought some of those lightweight running shorts, floaty with a mesh inner, to wear with a bikini top.

Will check out Curvy Kate.

The trouble with tie side and the next size up is that I'm smaller round the waist, so if they are looser on the bum area then they don't actually stay up because they're too big around the top then.

Tbf, I do have this issue with jeans too, if I can get them over my thighs/arse, then I almost always have a big gaping bit at the back and need a belt.

Maybe shorts are the way to go, I'll try those too.
