Make up fixing sprays

Are they a load of crap or do they actually work? I have super oily skin. Super shiny and make up slides off..have tried many brands foundation wise although currently awaiting tarte face tape matte after a recommendation here. Have tried many spfs also and still trying to find one that doesn't make things worse. Soap and glory have one reduced at the moment so trying that.

I've never used a setting spray, do they work for any oily skinned people here? If so what are your recommendations? Thanks as always.

They work for me, I swear by MAC ones.

Hi, I have oily skin and they are one of the best things I've bought. I use the Urban Decay pollution filter All Nighter and it's great! I would also say that you should invest in a good primer too. I like the Bare Minerals primer.

bakedbeanzontoast · 28/07/2019 20:07

Cheers! Is it spf, primer, make up then spray then?

Yup, that's what I do.

QueenofLouisiana · 29/07/2019 09:06

Another vote for Urban Decay All-nighter.

I have rosacea so really want my make up to stay put, this is good stuff.

I have oily skin and really rate the Avon Mark setting spray. It's usually about seven quid for a large bottle. It seems to keep my cc cream in place all day even in hot sweaty weather.

Setting sprays can be great, but they're not going to solve your particular issues. They can stop makeup rubbing off and generally make it last longer, but your problem sounds like your base.

What are you using under your foundation? Do you let base products fully fry before applying it?

bakedbeanzontoast · 30/07/2019 14:02

@Pinkyyy at the moment I stick on spf first and that's it. I give it five mins to sink in..that's it. Would you say I should be doing something else?

Fixing sprays are one of my only genuine 'game changer' products of the last few years.

I use the NYX one, it's just as good, if not better than Urban Decay.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 30/07/2019 14:46

The Urban Decay All Nighter is AMAZING and if you want a brilliant primer, the MILK Hydro Grip one is a game changer.

I am an oily skin girl and use smash box photo finish light, then either estee lauder DW for a night out or one of my Tarte foundations. Finish with Urban Decay All nighter. I also rate MAC Fix +

ViserionTheDragon · 30/07/2019 14:59

Another vote for MAC, they are alcohol free and don't dry out the skin either.

My daughter is a competitive cheerleader - that means lots of makeup and lots of athletics and bright lights and sweat

They all use the urban decay one

I have oily skin, what I found that works well for me is putting on a layer of powder before my foundation. I use the Maybelline fixing spray
