Viscose shrinking in wash. Where am I going wrong?!

It happened again! Lovely dress, 100% viscose. Care label says wash as wool at 30, iron whilst damp. I followed the care advice to the letter but the dress has shrunk in the wash and this isn’t the first time it’s happened to me.

What can I do to prevent this happening?? Is it the detergent? Should I just dunk in cold water?

Viscose looks like it's shrunk when you take out it out of the washer. Once it's dry it does back to normal shape ime.

If it can't be rescued take it back to the shop and complain.

iron when damp and then iron again when completely dry. Or take it back and never buy viscose again! IME it's more bother than its worth with all the bloody ironing

I rarely iron it, quick wash on 30 and hang it up to dry on a coat hanger.

I've had this happen with viscose shirts and I wash them in hair conditioner by hand and stretch gently when damp. It's a pain in the arse though.

I love viscose because it keeps me cool. It shrinks in wash due to nature of fabric. I’ve never had a viscose item not return to normal after a fairly hot iron. It responds better when slightly damp.
