Why did I not realise this ...

Just posting in case this (now blindingly) obvious 'hack' is new to anyone.

I used to get through a bottle of Pixi Glow Tonic in probably 4/5 weeks, because twice a day I religiously followed the instructions to 'saturate a cotton pad' and then wipe it over my face.

Then I saw a you tuber just splash some on her hands and pat it over her face ... I've now used barely a quarter of a bottle in 2 months, still using twice a day, and the results are exactly the same! Am I just exceedingly dim and gullible not to have realised this sooner???

I do that but more so i dont use cotton pads as they're bad for the environment. It's a bonus the product lasts longer!

Isn't the pad to wipe away dead skin? Genuine question as I've only recently upped my game and started doing this. If so then I could switch to a flannel.

I may be wrong, but I think with the liquid exfoliants they dissolve the dead skin cells, so there's nothing to wipe away. Certainly my skin's not looking worse for it in any case!

And yes to the less waste! I'm using the body shop camomile balm as a cleanser and eye make up remover, so just using flannels for that.

Following this - I was in a hotel at the weekend and dropped my one cotton pad down the loo! I used my hands then and did wonder...

I've just ran out of my glow tonic and I wasn't going to bother ordering more as I went through it so fast for the price, might re order now and try this!

RushianDisney · 26/07/2019 12:04

I've always done this, I ignore advice to buy something else unnecessary to apply products with, cotton pads especially are so wasteful both themselves and of the product. Also see lots of stupid advice with face oil to 'warm a few drops in your hands before applying' usually citing some bollocks about it being more effective if warmed slightly. It will warm on your face skin as it sinks in, by dropping it directly into my face I don't waste any product on my hands.

I find Superdrug's Naturally Radiant Glycolic Toner more effective than Pixi Glow Tonic. And considerably cheaper!

I use reusable bamboo make-up remover pads, mainly because I'm sloppy/lazy so I'd miss half my face if I just splashed toner using my hands. Pads somehow make me do it more methodically.
