Eyelash extensions

My lashes are nothing special - getting sparser as I get older too (50).

I can usually get a good effect witha heavy duty mascara like Benefit but I don't tend to bother most days.

So have been looking into eyelash extensions.

Any tips or suggestions as to what I need to ask for? Pros and cons of having them done.

I've had them done twice. Both times opted for "classic lashes" which in these two salons were the cheapest and most 'natural' looking.
They should last two weeks and anything beyond that depends on how well you've looked after them. (No rubbing, wearing mascara on top of them, no sleeping on your front etc).

There are different kinds you can get like Russian lashes and Nouveau lashes. These two are just different brands and more expensive than the classic lashes. Look into salons near you and see what they offer. Also read the reviews for the particular salon because lashes take up to 2 hours to complete and you want to be in a nice place with friendly staff

Normally I opt for a "lash lift" instead of extensions. They put a treatment on your lashes and it lifts them but they look very natural and I personally love the effect. This lasts 6 weeks

Xxx

Thanks.

There are a couple of places nearby - I think I need to call in and let them have a look at my lashes and see what they advise.

I don't need to look too 'done' but would like some definition especially as I keep getting my hair cut shorter and shorter . Grin

@legolimb get a lash lift instead x

They will advise extensions because then you are locked in to visiting every two weeks for infills at £20/30 a time.

I agree with previous posters - ask for a lash lift. The difference is spectacular. I will private message you a comparison pic of mine. It lasts 8 weeks and cost around £30.

I can't work out how to private message on the app, here is my comparison pic:

Frogs

They look good. So a lash lift is just like a perm then? Or do they tint at the same time?

They usually tint & then lift but yes the ‘lift is like a perm. You can’t use any oil based cleansers or make up removers though as they will break down the bonds in your treatment and undo the lift.

Daffodil2018 · 25/07/2019 11:14

I get LVL lashes which is a lift, perm and tint treatment. It's not as dramatic as extensions but I found even the most "natural" looking extensions made me look like a porn star. LVL is subtle but noticeable (to me).

pinegreen · 25/07/2019 19:48

Agreed, get LVL lashes.

I have blonde, long, straight lashes that are invisible without mascara. I last had my LVL lashes done 3 weeks ago & haven’t worn mascara since - I put some on a few days ago & it didn’t actually do a thing.

I have quite fine features (and hair) and similar to a previous poster, even the “natural” extensions look very silly on me.
