Too black for a wedding?

I've got this dress which I was thinking I might wear to an evening reception at a wedding. Is it too black though?

I think you can get away with a bit more for evening only, but I still think that's a bit much personally.

I love that. Wear it! I'm going to a wedding today and wearing black. I'm just adding a bit of colour with shoes and accessories so I don't look like I've wandered into the wedding instead of a funeral

I love it and I don't think it will look out of place. If anything, it will stick out for being stylish.

It’s gorgeous, defo not too much for an Irish or Greek wedding.

I'm usually of the opinion wear what you want but I don't think it looks right for a summer wedding.
It has a bridal vibe, but being black...it seems like something the other woman in a soap would wear.

It’s gorgeous but doesn’t look very weddingy to me, more smart party. I think that’s because it’s black. When is the wedding? If it’s November the party will have a different vibe to if it’s August.

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous OP but I’d be very warm in that today, even during the evening! If that doesn’t bother you then go for it

No it's not tonight. It's at the end of August, so the weather could be anything. Still that does technically mean it's a summer wedding.

I don't think not wearing black applies if you're only going to the evening. Everyone will have taken off their hats, by that time I'd say the dress code is cocktail / smart evening. I think it's perfect! It looks light and floaty to me - fine for summer.
