Too black for a wedding?

I've got this dress which I was thinking I might wear to an evening reception at a wedding. Is it too black though?

Black midi dress

I think you can get away with a bit more for evening only, but I still think that's a bit much personally.

fuckoffraaraa · 25/07/2019 06:59

I love that. Wear it! I'm going to a wedding today and wearing black. I'm just adding a bit of colour with shoes and accessories so I don't look like I've wandered into the wedding instead of a funeral Grin

goldrush2 · 25/07/2019 07:24

I love it and I don't think it will look out of place. If anything, it will stick out for being stylish.

Not too black at all, it's lovely

fancynancyclancy · 25/07/2019 07:32

It’s gorgeous, defo not too much for an Irish or Greek wedding.

notso · 25/07/2019 07:34

I'm usually of the opinion wear what you want but I don't think it looks right for a summer wedding.
It has a bridal vibe, but being black...it seems like something the other woman in a soap would wear.

StillWould · 25/07/2019 10:06

Too black for a wedding imo

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 25/07/2019 10:08

Not my style but don't see the issue with wearing it tbh

LizziesTwin · 25/07/2019 10:12

It’s gorgeous but doesn’t look very weddingy to me, more smart party. I think that’s because it’s black. When is the wedding? If it’s November the party will have a different vibe to if it’s August.

TattiePants · 25/07/2019 11:24

It's gorgeous and you should wear it.

moonpiggle · 25/07/2019 11:30

Wear it! Its gorgeous..i would x

ithinkiammelting · 25/07/2019 11:31

Not keen on it at all, sorry.

user1471449295 · 25/07/2019 11:39

It’s lovely but if it’s a summer wedding you are going to, it’s not right

StCharlotte · 25/07/2019 13:20

Oh gosh it's beautiful. And perfectly fine for a evening reception.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 25/07/2019 14:36

It's gorgeous. Wear at every opportunity

M0RVEN · 25/07/2019 14:39

I agree it’s not right for a summer wedding. Don’t you have anything else you can possibly wear?

Soola · 25/07/2019 14:40

I think it’s lovely for an evening wedding reception.

I would wear it.

HeadintheiClouds · 25/07/2019 14:41

God, I don’t think it’s remotely gorgeous Confused. It’s fine to wear to a wedding if you wanted to, though

cheeseheaven · 25/07/2019 14:46

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous OP but I’d be very warm in that today, even during the evening! If that doesn’t bother you then go for it

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 25/07/2019 14:52

With red bag, shoes and lip yes

Emilydickensonsdogs · 25/07/2019 15:34

Yes, it’s perfect for an evening reception.

RustyNail · 25/07/2019 17:04

No it's not tonight. It's at the end of August, so the weather could be anything. Still that does technically mean it's a summer wedding.

I don't think not wearing black applies if you're only going to the evening. Everyone will have taken off their hats, by that time I'd say the dress code is cocktail / smart evening. I think it's perfect! It looks light and floaty to me - fine for summer.

Gottoloveabagel · 25/07/2019 18:20

I think it's a great dress, I'd wear it for a wedding
