100 % Opaque Gym Leggings

lotsofthingstolearn · 24/07/2019 13:37

Im slowly losing weight (now UK18)

The gym wear I had pre children is now becoming too big. I've tried Nike and Addidas leggings and they don't pass the Squat test (100% opaque). It's not that they're the wrong size as they fall down when I run

Can anyone recommend leggings that are opaque. No one wants to be seeing my apple catchers when I'm either running or gyming. I like the sweaty betty ones but they only go to a 16. Any others that are tried and tested

Nike 3/4 length running leggings from Sports Direct. Worn them for years and still going strong!

PetraDelphiki · 24/07/2019 13:54

Sturdy by design ar brilliant - and tie waist means they stay up

PetraDelphiki · 24/07/2019 13:55

And a lot cheaper than sweaty betty

Lands’ End Starfish leggings are nice and thick. They’re mostly cotton though so possibly better for gym and yoga etc than running.

Under Armour for me - I've tried Nike/Reebok/Adidas, but UA just feels like much better quality - I wash mine several times a week and put it through the tumble drier and none of the kit (shorts/tights/vests) lose any of their shape or elasticity. Sports Direct do sell some UA bits, but not a massive range - also the sizes are S,M,L, XL etc not dress sizes so you'd probably need to try on to get the best fit.

Gymshark leggings I've had 0 problems with, even a few lighter colour pairs. Definitely recommend those! General MN will wince at the thought but I pretty much live in gym clothes and gymshark are definitely my favourite.

ZaraW · 24/07/2019 16:07

Alo Yoga 7/8th leggings are definitely not transparent.

JLbaby · 24/07/2019 16:11

I second Gymshark, I have their dreamy leggings and also their fit leggings and both completely opaque when squatting (they also don't budge and stay up when running!)

lotsofthingstolearn · 24/07/2019 16:17

Off I go to have a look at all of these...thanks. FrazzleRock despite trying on more or less all of Nike's via their website sadly (in my case) they're not squat proof- very frustrating. They're fine just stood normally but when you do a squat you can see my pants!

Oh heck Gymshark not up for fitting fatties! Only go up to a 16

Under Armour without a doubt! Have two pairs that I wear pretty much constantly and no issues with being see through.

fraxion · 25/07/2019 12:07

Under Armour for me too, I have quite a few pairs in different colours.

wateraddict · 25/07/2019 12:11

Check out Lucy Lockett and go bright

ZazieTheCat · 25/07/2019 12:13

Bamboo Clothing Enduro range.

They go up to an 18 in most styles. If the style you like only goes up to 16, be aware they size up large. I would say at least a size if not two sizes out, so a 16 would be worth a shot.

Needs to be the Enduro stuff to be totally opaque though.

legolimb · 25/07/2019 12:45

Another vote for BAM leggings.

I find I can wear a 12 or a 14 though so sizing isn't always as expected.

They last FOREVER - very good quality.

HostessTrolley · 25/07/2019 15:50

I got some dkny ones from tk maxx for £20, size xl. I’m size 18 and they’re the best I’ve ever had. Not shiny when they’re stretched, not seethrough, and the rise at the back is decent - they cover my bum and don’t ride down on the rowing machine. They did have them on the website last time I looked

ChameleonCircuit · 25/07/2019 22:22

Definitely Sturdy by Design. They're squatproof, stay exactly where they're supposed to, and are ridiculously comfortable. Their sizes go from XS to 4XL.

StarlightLady · 26/07/2019 07:16

Quality gym leggings are not designed as leisure wear nor to wear your apple catchers or anything else under them. That’s why they are double gusseted.

Thanks everyone

What's an 'apple catcher '?

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 28/07/2019 11:36

Massive knickers.

actiongirl1978 · 28/07/2019 19:13

Who would wear leggings without pants underneath?

That would be horrible!

ZaraW · 30/07/2019 14:50

actiongirl plenty of people just wear leggings with no pants it's pretty common.
