Bar soap with long lasting scent

Hello

Switched to bar soap in my bid to be more eco friendly. Can anyone recommend a soap that has a long lasting scent? I used to be able to smell my shower gel all day and I miss that

Thanks

Dove is pretty good. The pink one smells like Camay!!

According to the eco-threads on here, the trick is to 'cure' your soap, ie put it in a drawer for a couple of weeks so it dries out a little. This apparently makes it last longer and makes your drawer smell nice (I use Simple unscented so don't bother but others swear by it)

The Nesti Dante soaps are gorgeous and fragrance definitely lingers. You can get them on Amazon (and in shops I presume) but I always buy my soap in TKMaxx, lots of luxury soaps at reduced prices!

L'Occitaine also do fab soaps.

By the way, Dove isn't actually soap it's basically a hardened shower gel which is why it says 'cream bar' on the package as opposed to soap (though it does smell good)

I like Faith in Nature soaps, which are palm oil free. Nesti Dante is also good, but contains palm oil.

Chandrika soap lasts ages

The English Soap Company soaps have a lasting scent. My favourite is one of the Christmas ones 'Angel' which doesn't smell Christmassy at all but is lovely. It seems quite expensive for a bar of soap but it's huge and lasts ages

Another vote for Nesti Dante. We love the Cypresso smell. Buy them 12 at a time from Escentual during their offers.

Nesti Dante Fig and Almond smells utterly divine and lasts all day!

I received some gorgeous soaps from the Yorkshire soap company as a gift. They looked gorgeous and smelled quite strong, I was still able to detect the scent at the end of the day. Probably a bit pricy for everyday use as they're quite small and went down quickly but they were a beautiful gift

My favourites are roger and gallet soaps. Much longer lasting and so creamy. They're available at M&S

Nesti Dante...the Cypress one smells wonderful. I cure them in me sock drawer first to harden them off

Auldspinster · 24/07/2019 17:50

Pears mint soap has a nice smell that lingers.

rbe78 · 24/07/2019 18:03

I use Dove too - leaves you smelling fresh and lovely all day!

Gatekeeper · 24/07/2019 18:29

yes..I also second the Blue mint Pears one...smells really clean and fresh. You can buy it at Savers- 79p a bar...I buy loads when I;m passing

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 24/07/2019 18:49

I've rediscovered wrights coal tar. A cool shower with that soap on an evening like this is so refreshing. The smell lingers on your skin and in the bathroom!

surlycurly · 24/07/2019 19:18

I only ever use neste Dante soaps now too. The narcissus one is my favourite. They feel lovely, smell divine and last for ages. I buy them in bulk on amazon when they're on offer.

TantricTwist · 24/07/2019 19:59

Do not use Dove if you have switched to soap for fresher armpits. It has too much moisturiser in it for that.

Waitrose have lovely smelling basic soaps.

I often buy soaps from TKMaxx and I esp love the Scottish fine Soap Company esp the ones that come in their own tin. They smell and feel gorgeous. They're also really good as stocking fillers or for smaller gifts.

BlackSwan · 24/07/2019 20:24

Avene soap has a lovely fragrance but lots of moisturiser in it.

Dove is way too drying for me.

Deianira · 24/07/2019 20:33

Definitely Yorkshire soap company - I especially like the boxes of five soaps e.g. in the flower range; they have a really long lasting scent and they also last a long time - I've been using one for about six months now and it's still going, so they aren't as expensive as they seem!

slipperyeel · 24/07/2019 21:45

Crabtree & Evelyn jojoba soap smells lovely all day

surlycurly · 24/07/2019 21:47

I find the bar soaps much cheaper than shower gels. And much better for my skin as I get psoriasis. I also get unreasonably excited when it's time to open a new one and the whole bathroom smells lovely because of it!

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 24/07/2019 21:52

I've recently bought some nesti Dante soap after reading of it on mn. I think it's the amori one with the cherubs on the wrapper. Sparkling spas or something. It's not very strong but the smell does linger. I've not been able to test it properly as it's so hot all I can smell is deodorant, sun cream and sweat! I've got the monasteries and villages one too which is still on its wrapper smelling very strong. It's a masculine scent and I'm not sure about it for me. It's a lovely scent and reminds me of my grandad. Old books and leather kind of smell along with cedar. I'm going to try the fig and almond as that sounds lovely. They are big bars so although expensive I bet they last ages. Pits definitely less whiffy since using soap.

Nanalisa60 · 24/07/2019 21:56

Pears soap I just love the smell. It reminds me of my childhood.

lolbrador · 24/07/2019 22:06

Lots of suggestions to try here! Off to my local tk maxx tomorrow. I forgot about coal tar soap too!! It was my wee Granny's soap of choice Smile
