hi all
I have some stubborn greys - or really whites tbh! - but very few of them. I'm looking for something I can buy just to dye these. I've seen Majirel mentioned here. Is that something where I can buy the dye and activator separately and just keep it for use as and when?

I have used root touch up but my hair grows really fast so they need doing every two weeks and I thought an option that could be kept to one side would be cheaper in the long run. Plus I don't need much mixture at all.

any advice? Thanks!

I buy Majirel dye from Amazon. Also if you've got a Sally's near you, they'll have lots of brands you can choose from.

And I buy the bog standard developer, I don't pay for the branded one (and nor does my hairdresser!).

Thanks NoBaggy

do you have any recommendations for standard developer? I have nearly black hair. Not mixed anything before so all a bit new to me!

I will order from Amazon as well.

@NoBaggyPants. Sounds like you've got a crap hairdresser then. It definitely does make a difference, both with coverage and longevity.

Well I’ve got greys that need covering every 4 weeks, just along the hairline and parting.
I buy a standard root retouching kit (a popular brand) and mix one third of the colour and one third of the developer together in the plastic bowl that comes in the pack and apply as normal.
I always screw the lids on tight and they keep for a month.
The thing to remember is that it only goes ‘off’ once it’s mixed together Smile

I should have added, the kit I use has 15 ml each of colour and developer, so I measure out a teaspoon of each. A teaspoon is 5 ml .

Raisins ah, you are a gem! Thank you.

Is Majirel better than Clairol? The stubborn greys/whites are very determined!

I just use my usual box colour and mix up a bit from the colour tube and developer to touch up stubborn grey and hair line to save a full head colour. I find a teaspoon of each does the trick for me too. Also suggest pre-treating grey with 9% hydrogen peroxide.

Thank you Merlot
