Small boob problems!

Echobelly · 22/07/2019 18:57

Lighthearted thread for the less well-endowed of us. I always see a lot about the problems of big boobs, and here's a new range that goes up to whatever size, but I hear less about those of us at the other end of the scale.

My pet peeve is that I can't wear wrap dresses or shirt dresses most of the time because my small boobs are not matched with a small waist - their either gape on the top, or don't fit around my waist.

Also, when I was breastfeeding I went up to 30C and found that most 30-back bras didn't go above B cups.

What are your small boob problems?

I live in strapless bras from M&S is summer, as I also have very slopey, narrow shoulders and straps fall down constantly

The last strapless set I bought were 34B - I was in a bit of a hurry as I needed strapless set quickly, and although iIve put a bit of weight on recently, I'm pretty sure I am not really a 34 back, but the 32A felt tiny and the 34Bs were the only ones that worked. I've been doing 5:2 diet and have lost some weight (I think, I'm not weighing myself until the end of the 3 months) so I hope that doesn't mean I'll have to get new bras. Weight goes onto my boobs last and stomach first usually!

I've got small breasts but they're sort of in proportion with the rest of me.

After years of breast feeding, I did the bra intervention thingy and went from a 32A to 28D which looks and feels much better.

I felt quite weird with bigger breasts when I was breast feeding tbh and, having heard of the back, sweat and pain problems that can come with larger breasts, I'm happy enough with them.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/07/2019 18:06

Mine are in proportion too, I'm a size 6/8 with size 3 feet.
I've not done the bra intervention, mainly because my bras are comfortable and look as if they fit right, no squashing, or gaping or anything.

Squiz81 · 28/07/2019 19:57

I just did the boob or bust intervention and it's has calculated me as a 28F... Considering I recently moved from a 32b to 34a because I was finding the bands too tight, I'm not sure about that!!!

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/07/2019 20:16

Where even sells that size?

KatharinaRosalie · 28/07/2019 22:18

Plenty of places sell 28F. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=28f%20bra&_dcat=63853&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=1000&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
And it's very common that women go up back sizes when they really need to go up in cup.

christinarossetti19 · 28/07/2019 22:22

28 backs can be hard to find on the High Street now, but lots available online.

RaymondReddington · 28/07/2019 22:39

I have found my people

I’m just not in proportion. I’m tall and size 12 clothes all over but the small bust with no fullness (yet not saggy) just never works with anything I wear. Dresses need that full boob and despite a small waste my belly is fuller so I just look odd in everything!

I can’t begin to work out my bra size anymore as they just irritate me the minute I put them on. I have tried the different methods and apparently my 34A/B (pre baby) is a 32D/32E but that’s too tight and gapy. I go up a back size and they’re huge!

I live in braletts from Primark!

raindropsonwindows · 28/07/2019 23:03

I'm another one whose just not in proportion. Using the MN approved bra intervention method, I'm a 30D so I have more than ballerina breasts but my hips & backside are equal to the combined size/weight of the entire corps de ballet so nothing ever fits. I need a size 10 around my boob area but a size 16 around my hips & backside. This rules out a lot of clothes, especially as I'm short so even petite range tops usually end well below my waist. Losing weight doesn't help as it just comes off my boobs. Sadly, if I gain weight, it doesn't seem to re-attach itself to my boobs but to my backside only for my boobs to get even smaller if I then lose the weight I have re-gained.

NobodysChild · 28/07/2019 23:15

I sell Avon and lots of my customers say the bra's are fantastic and so comfortable. They're very reasonably priced too. Plus you get to try them on at home and if you're not happy you send them back for a refund.

Featherstep · 31/07/2019 12:13

So good to find similar small boobed people!

'Another annoying thing is bras with removable padding. The pads bunch up into balls every time you wash them and then you have the mission of trying to straighten them out via a 1cm gap' --- YES TO THIS.
I bought a pack of 3 Primark padded bra tops and was quite happy with them until they came out of the wash Angry

I am small boned and a pear shaped 8 pre-pregnancy. Wish I were bigger boobed, though generally have no body image problems EXCEPT when wearing bikinis, which canlook ridiculous because I'm so flat on top. What swimwear do you find most flattering? I usually go for padded, halter triangle tops (not teeny triangles), which give a balancing illusion. Last year I discovered Boden padded balcony bikinis, which also fitted great.

Oh and to whoever said they worried about small boobs breastfeeding - definitely not related. I fed my first for 2 years, didn't have any issues. I did enjoy having fuller bf boobs but they shrank to pancakes after!!

Runneryogi · 31/07/2019 14:05

I used to be self conscious but now I love my small chest, I can easily go bra less and wear halter tops etc and they don’t bother me when I run.

TheNightof1000Fans · 31/07/2019 14:11

"I’m a 34B cup and totally agree with dresses!! I’m a size 12-14 trouser and a 8-10 top!"

You're not a 34B, @Nosquit

TheNightof1000Fans · 31/07/2019 14:13

The band feels too tight because your boobs are squashed into too small a cup, @Squiz81 .

higgyhog · 31/07/2019 14:33

Mine are modestly sized too. The one thing that drives me totally mad is that there is an assumption by bra manufacturers and shops that because I have small boobs i want a bra that is padded, or even worse the moulded type. I look longingly at the Fantasie bras that seem to start in a D cup, nice lace, pretty colours. Yes, Bluebella , Agent Provocateur and John Lewis - plus the odd Rosie for Autograph have wired but unpadded bras, but the general assumption is for moulded, which literally make my tits itch by letting them overheat. I certainly don't feel inadequate, especially as small = pert as you get older so i wish manufacturers would't just assume I want padding to look bigger.

Nosquit · 31/07/2019 16:37

TheNightof1000Fans Well I tried on the size BOB suggested for me in a couple of styles in Anne Summers - couldn’t even get the damned thing to do up on its loosest setting and had nearly an inch gap: tried on my usual 34B and it was still tight but did up just about on the middle setting, ( did band test as suggested by BOB and could only just squeeze one finger in) and my boobs fitted in the cups perfectly and with no side boob or gape so I respectfully say that I AM a 34B. Please don’t say “you are not a 34B NoSquit” when you don’t know me or my shape. Different shops have slightly different cuts and size standards for their clothing and where I happen to shop I am usually a 10 in tops, and can sometimes squeeze into a baggy 8. In other shops I’ve been known to need up to a 14.

Squiz81 · 31/07/2019 16:41

@TheNightof1000Fans

"The band feels too tight because your boobs are squashed into too small a cup, @Squiz81 "

That's the thing the cups aren't ever that tight. I am pretty much flat chested there's not enough boob to ever squash into a cup. My dh said I must have got the 28f thing wrong so he measured me, by their methods I think I was still a 30d.... The old fashioned method makes me a 34a

Next time I'm shopping I will try a 28f but I can't see it doing up!

Echobelly · 31/07/2019 16:42

I'm considering a bikini for a holiday at the end of the month @Featherstep - for me (with my relatively large waist) the problem is that people tend to go 'Oh, if you have a tummy, just wear big pants'

WRONG! No good if your big stomach is not matched by big boobs - it just shows how much fabric is needed to cover your tum, and how little covers your boobs.

What I need is high cut, high leg bikini bottoms, which (based on an undies set I have) looks OK. But they're not in fashion right now, so nowhere affordable (and I am not spending over £30 on this) is making that shape Angry

TapasForTwo · 01/08/2019 06:41

Debenhams usually has a good range of bikinis that add curves in the right places.

PopCorney · 01/08/2019 06:47

I’ve come to love my small breasts! I considered a boob job for years but I’m so glad I didn’t get them done now.

I worked in the breast unit for 2 years and the sheer amount of women coming in who had issues with their implants. Cosmetic not from cancer. Didn’t matter how much they had spent or who had done them. Capsular contraction, wonky boobs, hard boobs, scar issues, mammos can’t see as well.

I embrace my small tits now. It’s a shame when I see a lovely dress but it already has “preformed” space for your tits which I would never fill, but we can’t have it all!

BonAccordSpur · 01/08/2019 07:00

Had to add to this thread-seems so appropriate after spending weeks trying to get youngestDD(12)into a bra for summer wear tops.Im a 34B cup, shes now34DD and she reckons she envies meShock-(id LOVE to have her full cup-worth) i spent 20yrs in padded push ups, chicken fillets&yep wring ing out padded tops at beach!! We laugh about it a lotGrin..she hates having boobs that need proper strapping down for sport, but its even worse for wearing thin strap tops&flimsy material as the minimising sport bras she likes look wrong with the big thick straps all on display-id love to look a little more'balanced'as im classic(but toned)Pear shape..

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 01/08/2019 07:13

The embarrassment and heartache as a teen has been replaced by joy as an adult that I can sleep on my front, run around, wear lots of loose dresses with just nipple covers and generally feel unencumbered and free!

Essentials:

  • no wrap dresses (unless safety pinned)
  • Calvin Klein bras, with a bit of shape but I padded
  • tit tape for all evening dresses
  • Boden or Toast bikinis with only slight padding

Discovery of the above has bit by bit changed my life!

isthismylifenow · 01/08/2019 09:00

Ah I am very relieved to find this thread.

I am also a member of the itty titty club.

I did the proper measurements from here a while back, but I cannot find a 28 bra anywhere (not in UK), I was wearing a 34B. So now i wear a 32C which is basically the same, but does fit a lot better.

My dd is 17 and is a 32DD which makes me quite jealous. She can wear any style top and they all look great on her. But I am very limited as I am all chest and no boob. Nothing v neck shaped looks nice, round neck suit me a lot better (I have a long neck too as well as a long chest and no boobs, so its struggle).

We went bra shopping recently to a well down underwear store, and I found hardly anything really nice in my size, just the plain boring colours. DD had a whale of a time as had SO MUCH to choose from. So I was a bit Hmm at my limited choices. But I did get some nice ones in the end, but definitely not as many to choose from.

Today they are not my friends as serious PMS and quite painful.

I have the gaping problem too, I am sure all and sundry have seen more than I would have liked them too over the years whilst doing some bending down.

Grin
Echobelly · 01/08/2019 17:42

DD (recently 11) has started to wear her first crop tops... she's definitely ahead of me in that respect, and I figure she's going to end up with more boobs than me fairly soon! Me, mum and sis are all small, but every other woman on both sides of the family are better endowed - fortunately no one has really big boobs either (just been talking with friends with G-L, yes, L cups, and obviously they bring quite a lot of problems)

Mine suddenly ballooned when I started to go through the menopause, which was pretty disconcerting after a lifetime of not having to think about them very much. However, my biggest problem was that clothes manufacturers seem to assume that small tits = small all over, and when I was wearing a size 16 but had 38A chest, it was near impossible to find dresses that didn't have a big tragic swathe of empty fabric on the top half. I'm a bit more in proportion these days with my 36Cs!
