Small boob problems!

Echobelly · 22/07/2019 18:57

Lighthearted thread for the less well-endowed of us. I always see a lot about the problems of big boobs, and here's a new range that goes up to whatever size, but I hear less about those of us at the other end of the scale.

My pet peeve is that I can't wear wrap dresses or shirt dresses most of the time because my small boobs are not matched with a small waist - their either gape on the top, or don't fit around my waist.

Also, when I was breastfeeding I went up to 30C and found that most 30-back bras didn't go above B cups.

What are your small boob problems?

Nosquit check out Boob or Bust on facebook - most people size 8-10 do not need 34 bras.

TapasForTwo · 24/07/2019 17:57

I have found my people. There does seem to be a disproportionate number of very well endowed mumsnetters, and it's nice to see that I am not the only one with clothing issues due to being less well endowed.

Dresses where the top flaps emptily, tops that have necklines that are too wide or are low cut, clothes with darts in where they aren't needed - they all serve to accentuate the lack of curves.

At 60 I now don't care any more. My boobs are as pert as they were when I was 16. Pregnancy and breastfeeding didn't affect them . They just didn't grow at all. I remember buying nursing bras two cup sizes bigger than my usual A cup, then returning them because I never grew into them. As I didn't leak I just didn't bother wearing a bra when breastfeeding.

I would love to be more in proportion, but it isn't going to happen. I am also lucky that I will never suffer from underboob sweat in this weather.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/07/2019 18:01

No underboob sweat here either.
I also wonder when it's a thing to take your be a off because they are so uncomfortable, and I'm wearing my wee cute bralet from Victoria's Secret, that I'm barely aware of.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/07/2019 18:04

Bra.
Ffs, my autocorrect hates me.

tequilasunrises · 24/07/2019 19:47

Hello my people!

Although my breast aren’t just small they are tuberous too dammit.

My lower body is curvy and I struggle with cellulite (arms and legs) and a wobbly belly so although I look slim in clothes, naked I look ridiculous. I too feel that I’d be much more in proportion with fuller boobs. Sigh.

I worry about being able to breastfeed in future too.

On a more positive note I really love the Primark maximise your assets Bras and bikinis for a slight cleavage Smile

KatharinaRosalie unfortunately I have to go by what sizes Primark do as I can’t afford to pay more than a few pounds for a bra. The BoB size the calculator gave me is one that I have only found in expensive shops and so can’t afford. So I have to go with the nearest “best fit” which, after trying 6 different sizes of the same bra in Primark was a 34B and the 34B in Anne Summers also fitted me the best out of a few sizes I tried. (If anything the band is a bit tight tbh).

I’m weirdly proportioned too - my size 8-10 is because of boob space gapes and I can only wear certain tops.

Nosquit · 25/07/2019 02:06

I mostly wear “generic sized” crop tops anyway unless it’s for sexy times 😂😂

Weathergirl1 · 25/07/2019 06:15

Ah my people too! Always been happy with my small boobage and desperately hoping they go back to what they were after pregnancy (usually a 34A/AA - currently wearing 34C/36B) - it's actually the worst part for me so far of body changes - I keep telling DH that I feel like a fembot from Austin Powers 😭.

Last few years I've liked the bralets in Accessorize - hang on for the sales and they're usually reduced to £7. I agree with clothes not fitting properly, but you do have to pick your brand wisely. Karen Millen for instance is very much for the small of nork and I I always used to find it strange when well endowed women tried to squeeze themselves into the very structured tops and just looked like they were spilling out. Wedding dresses were another one that I found weird - they all seemed to be for C cups so you'd have those like us who didn't fill them, and larger chests spilling out 🤷

I did try to measure using the boob or bust instructions a while ago but really didn't get on with it saying I was 30 band size - it was ridiculously too tight and I have quite a broad back due to muscles (I do a fair amount of sports training) so I don't know?

dannydyerismydad · 25/07/2019 08:22

Finding vest tops to go under gaping wrap tops and dresses can be a mission in itself. I can't fathom if my boobs are too high up, not sticky out enough or my shoulders are too low but the straps are almost always too long and I have to alter them. If I don't the neck sits beautifully underneath my boobs.

Squiz81 · 25/07/2019 09:41

Another annoying thing is bras with removable padding. The pads bunch up into balls every time you wash them and then you have the mission of trying to straighten them out via a 1cm gap

I'm an 8-10 but have recently been finding a 32 band too tight, I'm broad across my back/shoulders. So I'm back in a 34a.

I've always had issues with my flat chest, but I breastfed both my sons, so I feel they have redeemed themselves and I'm learning to embrace the benefits.

Squiz81 · 25/07/2019 09:45

@IHaveBrilloHair which Hollister Bra do you recommend? Bra or bralette? I'm always on the hunt for a comfy bra 🤪

Squiz81 · 25/07/2019 09:49

@DeRigueurMortis Ballerina breasts is my new favourite way of describing them!

MrsPear · 25/07/2019 09:53

Balcony bras. Euro makes like Freya are better too. Oh and Emma Clark if you want something to fill you up on the top. Lastly if you are pear shape you need to look for dresses that fit and flare. I’m 35, 27 and 39 but generally if I buy fit and flare size 10 and wear a balcony bra it fits ok.

DeRigueurMortis · 25/07/2019 11:19

Squiz81 mine too :-)

EAIOU · 25/07/2019 14:18

Low cut dresses/wrap dresses look a bit silly and lost on me! 36B and definitely the east+west type.

SoccerWoman · 25/07/2019 14:28

I second the hollister bras. Gilly Hicks I think the brand is. I have a few including the front fastening racer back ones. The 'Push up plunge' ones are the best for me.
I like them because the cups seem smaller made, not just the cup size, if that makes sense. So I don't get the gape.
Think they have a sale on too.

Littlechocola · 25/07/2019 14:33

I’ve learnt to embrace my smallness. I do wear low cut tops and wrap dresses and will happily wear my teeny bikinis.
I used to be really embarrassed and hide under layers of padding and thick jumpers but realised that I was only really hiding from myself. Look around the beach, all shapes and sizes, no one cares!
I have a teenage dd and would hate for her to think that you have to hide your body away if you aren’t the ‘perfect size... whatever’.
I make sure that I buy clothes that suit my shape rather than what’s in fashion.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/07/2019 14:35

@SoccerWoman
That's exactly the ones I love, I have 5 in different colours.

HamiltonCampbell · 25/07/2019 14:47

I have lovely small boobs.
They are still perky despite the rest of me sagging into post middle age.
They successfully fed three babies.
They are fully functioning are a terrific source of pleasure to me and my DP.
Yay! for small boobs I say.

Downsides, yes it has taken me years to give up on traditional bras. I have recently discovered Calvin Klein soft Modern Triangle bras. The are soooo comfy and they have a back fastening so much easier to get on and off than most bralets or crop tops.
A lot of dresses need a cami under
Um, that's it I think

DeRigueurMortis · 25/07/2019 15:13

On the bra front....

My new favourites are an M&S strapless bra. I have them in 3 colours.

They fit beautifully, I don't have to worry about straps slipping etc. They come with detachable straps but I've just ditched them (gone in the sewing basket for when I might need random elastic).

Tbh I'm shocked I didn't think of it before.

I wear them all the time - regardless of if I need a strapless bra or not.

I don't actually need the support straps give, I just want a nice shape and nipple coverage and these fit the bill for me.

They are padded, but not overly so.

Honestly they've been a game changer for me Grin

KatharinaRosalie · 25/07/2019 15:17

Nosquit you can probably find your BoB size on ebay. Now don't get me wrong, of course no need to change if you're comfortable - but BoB size bra might be much more comfortable and flattering.

Iwantacookie · 25/07/2019 15:23

Yes to Primark for their cleavage boosting bras.
Small boobs are the bain of my life I've never felt body confident because of them.
I'm too old to care now though but still secretly wish for bigger boobs

Squiz81 · 25/07/2019 15:24
