What charity shops in London to hit?

I've got some unexpected time off without kids before I start a new job shortly and I'd like to spend some of it looking for secondhand finds. Are there any areas of London to hit where the charity shop pickings are particularly rich? Share your style wisdom with me, O Mumsnet, please. Looking for good quality work wear especially.

From my experience: Chiswick, Richmond, Putney (most of West London, really). Chelsea is good too, but also higher priced because of all the designer items they get given.

I don’t know if it’s still there, but the Oxfam down the World’s End end of the King’s Road used to be brilliant.

The Oxfam & Save the Children shops in Chiswick have good stuff, so does the Shelter shop (lots of new M&S). Oxfam had a whole rack of new Marcus Lupfer on Friday.

I used to get some brilliant stuff from the charity shops in Balham.

I miss London!

Right, that's a nice shortlist already! Fortunately I'm already a West Londoner, albeit further out Grin

I shall return to share any particularly good finds, if it would give people pleasure.

I headed to The Red Cross shop off Kings Rd last time (couple of years ago) as I'd heard it was The Place for labels. And indeed it was but it was largely executive wear or very glam frocks - not really what I was after. Also expensive although there was a large 50% off rail. There were several others on Kings Rd, all similar and I came away wishing I'd been a bit focused.

I find East Sheen/Mortlake has surprisingly good charity shops which are cheaper than Richmond and Putney

The Oxfam on Marylebone High Street is good

I wonder what Primrose Hill, Hampstead or Ken High St would be like? I went in an amazing one near Portobello a few years ago, really good but expensive.

Battersea and Pimlico car boots run on Sundays. I think the Battersea one stops in the summer holidays are usually worth a visit. You get lots of stylists and rich people selling there.

There’s also quite a good run in Chiswick

Come out of Turnham Green tune, there’s an excellent Oxfam bookshop, then a Fara, then a Fara kids. Turn right into Chiswick high street and there’s an Oxfam
