Do people really wear this stuff?!

I'm currently looking for a dress to attend a family wedding. Came across this site for curvy women (which I am now due to post baby weight gainBlush)

Do people really buy stuff like this?!

If you saw someone wearing this, would you think "good for her, wish I was that confident" or "oh dear, that's an awful dress". (If you can call it a dress! Looks like a bit of see-through material to me!)

My 20 year old stepdaughter does. She'd wear it with DMs or similar for a gig or something.

BenWillbondsPants · 20/07/2019 10:20

Teens to a festival would wear it I reckon.

My 52 year old self. Not so much ...

Herefortheduration · 20/07/2019 10:20

Actually it's similar to a dress I used to wear to go raving when I was early 20's and I'm in my 50's now, lol

GemmeFatale · 20/07/2019 10:20

The store name is a hint really. It’s not the place to shop for a niace dress to attend a wedding in.

Tableclothing · 20/07/2019 10:21

I wore something not dissimilar when I was clubbing aged 17. It's not a look I'm so keen on 20 years later.

Hoppinggreen · 20/07/2019 10:23

I used to wear something like the second one, with black shorts and a crop top when I was 18/20

WanderingTrolley1 · 20/07/2019 10:25

It’s awful, no matter the age of wearer.

Sturmundcalm · 20/07/2019 13:02

there was a girl on the train wearing the short version of this over a swimsuit (at 11.30pm, think she was heading home from a music fest). i hadn't actually realised it was supposed to count as a dress and thought of it more as a kind-of cover up for the swimsuit even though it didn't really cover up. i am now educated Wine

As a pp indicated. Nasty gal...indeedGrin

Eustasiavye · 20/07/2019 13:54

They do in Ibiza over swimwear.

"Nastygal.com" Grin Grin Grin

I did see a lady, probably in her mid fifties wearing something similar and she looked bloody amazing. She had very glossy long grey hair, and was very fit and toned. It was sleeveless and a maxi dress, black and completely sheer. She wore it with biker boots and a black leather jacket.

I thought it was brilliant and told her how fab she looked.
Its wasn't something I'd thought to wear, but really lovely to see someone so happy in their own skin and not giving any fucks what anyone else thought, plus I'm now thinking about getting a sheer black maxi myself Grin

I am a huge believer in wearing what you want at any age, but I think sometimes its easier to rock these kinds of outfits, leather leggings etc as you get older, as you have the confidence, poise and don't give a fuck which make outfits look vair cool, instead of try hard, iyswim Smile

Great post Eaten

EatenByDinosaurs · 20/07/2019 14:56

Thanks Jane.

Her outfit was very similar to this, but without the skirt and top under the sheer dress obviously.
She was also wearing the most amazing rose quartz necklace, it was jagged pieces/obelisks of quartz all around. Which reminds me, she said she bought it on Etsy, must look and try and find myself one Grin

DD19 and her friends all wear stuff like this to raves and clubbing. If you think they are bad you should see the -bits of material- outfits they have ready for Magaluf!
At least they'll be nowhere their luggage allowance🤣🤣

sqeakywheel · 20/07/2019 18:04

I used to wear a body and cycling shorts and see through skirts and tops in the 90s, when I was young and thin.

ZazieTheCat · 20/07/2019 19:18

In the early nineties, I had a sheer navy camo print maxi dress from Warehouse. I wore it over a navy satin slip I shortened to micro mini length with navy DC skate shoes and space buns. And a lot of glitter. I loved it. One of my best ever clubbing outfits.
