Would you say I’m a winter or soft summer?

I can’t afford to have my colours done properly, so I’m wondering if the S&B can help me.
My hair isn’t black just very dark brown, my eyes are grey/blue. I can wear white, but never been able to work out if my veins are blue or green. I can wear both colours of gold but prefer silver toned. I have a slight tan at the moment. I prefer blue toned pink / red lip sticks.

I would say that photo isn’t good enough quality to assess. You need to take your face in full light, and ideally full face. The green/blue vein thing - I know it’s commonly given as a differentiator between cool and warm, but as someone who has drawn blood on probably thousands of people, I’ve yet to see a green vein.

Ok thanks, here’s a new full face picture

You will save a fortune through your life if you invest some money in having your colours done . Seriously try to raise the money to do it .

No2candle · 19/07/2019 08:08

SpeckledyHen yeah I would really like to but all my spare cash is going on holiday clubs & kids stuff, so I hoped the wise S&B people might be able to help me out 🤞

Do you look better in strong, clear colours (winter) or in muted colours (soft summer)? I think that's the main difference.

No2candle · 19/07/2019 08:17

I can wear both quite well I think, like a dusky pink or a deep indigo. This is where the issue lies, if I had a preference I would choose strong colours.

I’m pulling towards winter, now I can see your full face.

frugalkitty · 19/07/2019 09:09

I'd say a winter, but the best way to check is to look at yourself in good daylight and drape black round your shoulders. Be honest about what it does to your face. That's the difference between summer and winter, winter can wear black and summers can't.

No2candle · 19/07/2019 13:10

Thanks all, just done the black test and it looks ok, doesn’t wash me out or anything. Makes my hair look darker actually. Good job as I have quite a few black work tops!

I’m leaning towards winter but not 100% sure. Something you’re wearing in the full face pic isn’t working for you and is washing you out despite your tan. I can’t work out if it’s one of the colours of the clothes you’re wearing or the lipstick but I suspect it’s the lipstick.

hotwaterbottles · 19/07/2019 13:36

It's the lipstick

BusterGonad · 19/07/2019 14:32

Yes definitely ditch that lipstick, you need something fresher and brighter.

thisenglishlife · 19/07/2019 16:44

I'd say winter. You need a fuschia lipstick and a brighter, clearer blue thean the one your are wearing.

Have a look here (use this as a start point):
www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk/season/winter

Find those colours and try them on in stores.

You'll have a few bright colours (probably cobalt/electric blue, true red, bright violet and bright pink), a few dark colours (probably dark green, dark purple and dark red) and a few neutrals (probably pure white, black and navy) that will look good on you.

No2candle · 19/07/2019 19:37

Thanks all and thanks so much for the link! I do like all those colours and have clothes in many of them.
re the lipstick / washing out I do have a lot of thick concealer on my nose as I have roseacea so maybe It looks paler ?
I’ve attached a pic of my fave lipsticks so I don’t think I’m too wide of the mark (far left is the one I’m wearing this morning).

I think those lipsticks are too muted and you need a clearer colour like a bright fuschia or a pillar box red

No2candle · 19/07/2019 20:07

This is the middle one when worn - I think the pic is a bit dark. Excuse the red face I’ve just cleased.

I don't think you have enough contrast to be a winter

What about a dark autumn

No2candle · 19/07/2019 21:04

Thanks Sabber but I don’t think so, I look truly hideous in anything mustard, rust or orange, peach etc. There’s no reddish / warmth in my hair either.

OP posts:
Sabber · 19/07/2019 21:06

OK still don't think you are a winter.

thisenglishlife · 19/07/2019 21:52

I think you are a winter as you have light skin with pink undertones, blue eyes and cool toned very dark hair without red, orange or golden undertones.

I would recommend a MAC (maybe 'Lickable') or YSL fuschia lipstick.

I think you are summer but hard to tell without seeing you in the right colours

HeadintheiClouds · 19/07/2019 23:04

I don’t think you’re winter either.

HeadintheiClouds · 19/07/2019 23:05

Hang on, hair colour doesn’t matter? Is that true?
