Moisturiser or serum advice for oily/dehydrated skin

I’ve been told yesterday that I have quite oily skin which is very dehydrated.
I’m looking for moisturiser/serum that isn’t going to break me out or cause tiny whiteheads under the skin - which is usually what happens!
I used to suffer with cystic acne in my early twenties & the dermatologist always told me at the time to stick to oil free stuff - not sure whether this should be the case now?

Should I also moisturise both morning or night?

I spend half my life, reading reviews trying different products which then end up going to waste because they don’t suit my skin.

Does anyone have advice or recommend a decent product?

I'm perimenopausal with similar skin. I don't like serums & use an aqua based moisturiser under makeup. Exfoliate twice a week & use pure aloe gel (cheap from high street) on face & neck after a shower.

I went to dermalogica and they told me the same thing but gave me a good cleanser and water based moisturiser

Has helped loads

I have oily skin and I absolutely cannot use any of the oil free mattifying products, as they dry my skin our and make it look like tissue paper. I use oils - Dr Hauschka has normalizin oil specifically for oily skin, give it a try?

ShirleyPhallus - what water based moisturiser did they tell you?

KatharinaRosalie I will look this up. Haven’t thought of oils. Do you use it a.m & p.m?

Yes as needed, mostly AM. I also use other oils, like the Decleor green mandarin. But the Hauschka one is best for oil control. They do a trial size. If you have issues with acne, check their cleansing cream - every time I get a bit spotty, this sorts me right out.

Thanks KatharinaRosalie - think I’m going to order the travel sizes & see how I get on

I use dermalogica active moist in winter. Its oil free

And the criminally expensive lancome visionnaire in summer

Give NATURALWORLDSBLOOM ago they make amazing organic skin and haircare products, they have a gel moisturiser which is perfect for skin like ours.
