Blonde tones brassy - what to do?

Had some blonde put through my hair. The hairdresser said she was going for an 'ashy' toner, however in the light the blonde is actually quite brassy. Going on holiday next weekend and worried the sun will make this worse?

What can I do? Will purple shampoo help? If so, how often?

Purple shampoo should help - get a very strong purple colour one and leave on for at least 5 mins.

Normally you’d use 2-3 times a week, but I’d try it every day for 3 days and see if it’s lifting

Purple shampoo - apply directly to dry hair. Massage in thoroughly. Leave on for 10-30 mins depending on how brassy hair is. Rinse and condition.

I've just done this today and it's worked a treat 🙂.

Fudge purple shampoo is probably the best I've tried, you can buy it on Amazon. I usually put it on for an hour if my hair really needs a pick me up. Beware though if your hair is quite light it could pick up some purple tones. Another good one is Kevin Murphy's blonde mask, conditioning and brightening but quite pricey.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone!

So Fudge and Kevin Murphy, Ill have a look.

Any other recommendations? Preferably not too pricey!

Yep! I use fudge purple shampoo once or twice a week and my hair is never yellow!

I used this one today. Affordable, highly pigmented, very effective and smells amazing (if you like violets!).

I also really rate the Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo but that one is harder to find. Ebay is the best bet.

Bought this and it's brilliant. But I bought it for my grey hair to eliminate yellow

On Amazon everyone with your problem raves about it. There are two shades... silver and pearl

It's not permanent, lasts a few washes
