Longer length swimsuits?

I’ve avoided the annual humiliation that is buying new swimwear for long enough and I cannot put it off any longer.

But this year I was made aware that there is such a thing as longer length swimsuits for those of us who are on the taller end of the scale. Aka ME!

I’m told M&S does them but my local M&S doesn’t stock any but before I order online, are there any brands that are particularly good at those? Bonus points if they do tummy control too!

Figleaves do quite a few in longer lengths - all in bra sizes too which is another bonus. They’re expensive but the fit is so brilliant I always think they’re worth it.

Simply Be do them

I have the same problem and recently got one from SimplySwim. Not gonna win any style awards but plenty of length!

Betty777 · 16/07/2019 21:21

i think Boden might do longer length? Their swimsuits are great quality and worth the price IMO

zucchinieggplant · 16/07/2019 21:25

Long length swim suits are my saviours, specifically ones from Boden. Tried some from Bravissimo recently (due to norks of size) but they nearly split me in half! Boden is pricey but really good quality; I am still wearing a suit that is about three years old and it's perfect. Some styles/sizes are reasonable in the sale.

Fridaysgirl · 16/07/2019 22:18

I defy anyone to tell me the Boden Santorini swimsuit isn't a tiny gift from above

Littlepigsmig · 16/07/2019 22:31

I got one from M&S and it fitted well (I'm 5ft 10in).

I also got a one shoulder one from Asda which was long in the body, it was the only one mind, the others from there were too short!

BikeRunSki · 16/07/2019 22:34

Halocline

AgathaF · 16/07/2019 22:40

If you're struggling with swimsuit lengths, have you tried a tankini? So much more comfortable that a swimsuit that's even slightly too short.

Hopefullysmart · 16/07/2019 22:40

I recommend Landsend - tummy control and longer length. I have 3 in different colours.

OhEliza · 16/07/2019 22:44

I got a tall one from Figleaves recently, and it was sooooo not tall enough (I'm 5.9, so tall but not giant). I had to return it.

I normally wear sporty bikinis to get round this (no tie necks or tassels so I can actually swim, not just lounge), but I'm 16 weeks pregnant so that's starting to look a bit inelegant.

If anyone can recommend long-length maternity swimsuits I would love you forever.

Gingeraledrinker · 16/07/2019 22:45

I second Landsend!

BikeRunSki · 16/07/2019 22:46

@AgathaF - I find that tankinis don’t meet in the middle for me.

madeleinetheragdoll · 16/07/2019 23:05

Sainsbury's ones always fit me and are very long in the body.

aniawl · 16/07/2019 23:31

Oh wow, what a treasure this thread is! I’m so glad I asked! I can’t believe I went for so many years without realising that longer length swimsuits were a thing!

I’m hovering over the Boden Santorinis - how pretty are they! If they’re long enough and good quality, I might just buy one. Even though it’s pricier than the figleaves one I was also eyeing up.

Got to the age when spending money on crappy quality clothes really offends me. I don’t want many! I want good!

I like the halocline ones @BikeRunSki Posted as well - they look like I could actually comfortably swim in them.

@AgathaF - I tried a few tankinis but I always end up spilling out of them with the top riding up and showing off my least attractive wobbly / stretchmarked bits. My favourite one was a maternity tankini that I ended up wearing long after the baby came. Had rushing on the side which just created a bit of texture around the belly and worked pretty well. @OhEliza - I think I bought was from Mothercare - it was a few years ago now though!

Thanks again for your help!

I get my swimsuits from Long Tall Sally, as the name suggests all the clothes are for tall people and now I don't have to choose between a verrrry high crotch area or fairly exposed boobs 😂

JoeMaplin · 17/07/2019 23:16

Figleaves are amazing!

BridgetDarcy · 18/07/2019 00:20

Long tall sally!

DramaAlpaca · 18/07/2019 00:23

Another vote for Long Tall Sally. I'm not a fan of most of their stuff, but their swimsuits are good.

chipsandgin · 18/07/2019 00:35

I’ve got a figleaves one which is brilliant & finally this year got my first tankini from Landsend - finally a tankini top which is long enough (tried a few on over the years - ‘normal’ length ones had ridden up over my never quite recovered from childbirth belly in seconds. Longer length are amazing! Plus got the high rise suck it all in bikini pants & the double layer worked incredibly well). Game changer!

swimwithaview · 18/07/2019 01:03

Another vote for Lands End, they actually cover your arse too.
