Someone reassure me this is an excellent plan (hair related)

I have long (mid back), thick hair. And I am hot and bothered and don’t seem to have time to get it washed and dried every day.

I also have a two month old (this the lack of time for grooming). There is no chance Sir-Screams-A-Lot (my new tiny dictator) will be giving me the time away from feeding for a proper haircut.

Please reassure me if I chop it myself with decent scissors, say to my shoulders, it will look fine and be much easier to manage (or at least quicker to dry if not actually style).

I’m not sure I’m brave enough for that. I would add to my profile but can’t work out how

Well done! I've used the "mumsnet " haircut a few times esp when twins were small. Started with my fringe then the length. YouTube has loads of vids and I just thought... well can always tie it up until I could get to a hairdresser!

I've used the forehead ponytail technique loads and v happy with it - go for it, but do remember not to go too short, maybe cut it to chin length at first and see what you think!

I am going to try this ponytail cut thing!
