What to use when every mascara ever smudges

I've tried loads - all high street ones smudge or flake. Double wear smudges, benefit they're real smudges, tubing mascara flakes. EL little black primer used before and then to seal in other mascaras helps but still not perfect.
I permanently look like a panda, don't think I can cope with (or afford!) Lash extensions, any advice or new ones I can try?

I wear contacts and have watery allergic eyes, so most mascaras smudge on me especially in the summer, waterproof or not.

The best I've found so far is the L'Oréal lash paradise waterproof - not a smudge in sight.

Also I don't put it on my lower lashes - just putting mascara on top lashes improves things for me.

Bobbie brown No smudge mascara is brilliant. My mascara always used to smudge due to the oil in my skin but this works brilliantly.

HappyKatieA · 16/07/2019 06:04

I haven't read the full thread but thought I'd add that I used to have this problem but have now been wearing No7 Stay Perfect for years. It's a tubing mascara, as I understand it. I NEVER have smudging now, and wouldn't wear anything else.
I only put one coat on as otherwise it can get too thick.

Maybeline colossal waterproof doesn't smudge. It stays put for days.

SummiSummit · 16/07/2019 07:58

I swear by Kanebo's Sensai 38 mascara. It turns into "clumps" (I know this doesn't sound like an endorsement!) rather than smudges, so even when you wash it off (it comes off in water above 38 degrees, hence the name) it comes off in tiny clumps rather than smudgy.

Tubing mascara usually only flakes when it starts to dry out, for me this is when I've been using it for 10 weeks. Maybe do a research project and go to a department store and try the Bobbi Brown on your left eye and the Clinique on your right?

To throw more into the mix I really like MAC Extended Play and also DHC Perfect Pro mascaras (both are tubing).

I have this problem plus allergies plus I swim most days. I've had my eyelashes tinted which is great. Only waterproof mascara that really works for me is NYX 'Worth the hype' waterproof. I need only a teeny bit. I have been using revitalash and my eyelashes are fantastic now so with the tint and a wee curl they don't need mascara and I would never have left the house without it before.

Thanks all, going to work my way through the suggestions and report back.

Blinc mascara wasn't terrible actually, performance wise but it looked dreadful. You can't build layers with it so it just didn't work for me. It was plush as a topcoat for other mascaras but again not my holy grail.

Tarte lights camera splashes (splashes is the waterproof version) or Max Factor false lash effect, the waterproof version of that is unbelievably stubborn, takes a good wash with oil to remove it.

BelindasGleeTeam · 16/07/2019 20:10

I keep going back to 2000 calorie...it doesn't budge for me.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 16/07/2019 20:12

Also, do you wear foundation/concealer under eye and do you set it with powder? If I’m just pottering about the shops or so I don’t always powder, just concealer and mascara really and if I don’t powder any mascara I use transfers under my eye regardless of how waterproof it is

sandalsinthebin · 16/07/2019 20:32

Primark in the silver tube. Brilliant and doesn't smudge for me

growlingbear · 16/07/2019 20:34

Maybelline here too. It's the best. And I recommend brushing a little neutral or smoky eyeshadow under the lids as well as above.

curtainsriver · 16/07/2019 20:39

Can't remember any of the brand names now but try to research Japanese brands and then buy it off amazon. The one I had needed its own special eye make up remover it was that hard to take off - perhaps it won't smudge...? Worth a try!!

MeMeMeYou · 16/07/2019 21:18

On amazon there’s a Japanese mascara called heroine brand and it doesn’t budge even in the shower! All mascaras smudge under my eyes usually but this is v good

HernameisGio · 17/07/2019 02:10

No.7

Shitonthebloodything · 17/07/2019 08:21

Thank you for the new suggestions! I'm so glad there's others to try!

I don't powder under my eyes and do use concealer so will try that too

I googled this problem recently as I was experiencing the same thing. A YouTube video advised that it happens because of oils on your eyelids and even waterproof mascara isn’t oil proof. I now use an oil free foundation which I also apply to my eyelids and then brush some loose translucent powder on my eyelids before I apply eyeliner or mascara. It works a treat. The oil free foundation I use is Tarte Shape Tape matte foundation and the powder is Revolution baking powder.
