Party outfit with converse style shoes??

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2019 17:41

It's my birthday and I'm having a party! I plan on doing LOTS of dancing and want to wear converse style flats for ultimate comfort. Happy to invest in a new pair if needed as I know I'll wear them to death after.

However, I've got nothing visual in mind as to the overall look that I can aim for to be smart / funky and not look as if I've just rolled out of bed and thrown something on. Heels make even the most casual outfit look smart so no idea where to start.

Tried Pinterest with 'party outfit flat shoes' but didn't get very far. How can I research a look I like??

I'm average height, 10 top, pretty flat chested, 12 bottom with great legs and generally well toned thanks to running and yoga Wink but a diastasis I am very paranoid about.

What about a 50s style swing / tea dress?

AllMagicComesWithAPrice · 13/07/2019 18:46

I went to party last night in my converse Grin I wore with denim shorts, baggy white vest and my sequin blazer

FaithInfinity · 13/07/2019 20:56

I just got asked my opinion on a party outfit..cropped jumpsuit with converse. She looked fabulous so I told her so and sent her on her way!

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2019 21:05

I love the shorts and sequin blazer idea but worry that is have to take the blazer off pretty quickly and then just look like I'm at the beach?!! I could look for some quite smart shorts and I do have a slinky black top which is very flattering.

And yes I love the 50s dress look and I always lust after jumpsuits but think I'll look like a sack in them!!! However might be worth trying some on first I guess as I know they're very on trend.

Thanks this has got me off the starting blocks!!

Anyone recommend any good sites for the 50s look that I won't need to worry too much about standing close to naked flames..... the google searches are bringing up a lot of eBay polyester shit

Lindybop, hellbunny, collectif , tigermilly and lady v London are nice for fifties style

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 13/07/2019 21:09

Lindy bop have lovely 50s style dresses.

I love cropped jumpsuits with converse or vans when going out. Rarely wear heels even when dressed up these days,

Ninkaninus · 13/07/2019 21:29

A big tulle skirt! Simple sparkly t shirt.

GreyTS · 13/07/2019 21:38

My go to party outfit is always dressy shirts, silky cami - current favourite is a halter neck one from warehouse - and blazer with either strappy sandals or puma cali trainers, like you I have awesome legs from yoga and running 😉 so don't really need the leg lengthening of heels

GreyTS · 13/07/2019 21:39

Dressy shorts, not shirts 😆 try river island

itbemay1 · 13/07/2019 22:11

What about THE Zara spotty dress? Looks great with trainers/flats

troppibambini · 13/07/2019 22:12

Black fitted tshirt, tulle skirt and sparkly converse.

Maybe a prom dress style? Or a flippy mini dress? How old are you and where do you usually shop?

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2019 22:49

I'm going to be 40 - don't buy much nowadays, generally trying to buy nicer quality stuff. Just ordered a couple of jumpsuits from John Lewis sale and a gold and silver pair of Superga trainers so can try it all on together.

I'd love to find a pair of nice high waisted shorts but drawing a blank so far - leopard print might be nice with the black top I have in mind but will check our River Island now

I have also fallen a bit in love with this hush Jumpsuit but it's £85 and although I can afford it, it seems like a lot for something I might not wear much..

I live in dresses/skirts with trainers - Superstars, Veja and Stan Smiths.

I am not short or tall (smidge under 5'8), but also really have an aversion to heels atm.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 13/07/2019 22:57

What colour jumpsuit? The black and white is reduced to £55

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2019 22:59

Sod's law it is the leopard print one which has caught my eye - not reduced unfortunately
