Mac or Laura Mercia?

Thought I'd consult the wisdom that is Mumsnet as I have no clue and I look about 103 atm 😭

It's my birthday soon and I thought I'd treat myself to a new primer and foundation. I have an whirlwind of an 18 month old DD who isn't the biggest fan of sleep and I am shattered ( and I look it!)

I'm 42, skin is combination but does get quite dry, I have quite a red face and would also like to hide my pores. I'd like to look a bit fresher and more awake! I thought I might go to the counters but I'll get dazzled by all of the choice!

Any recommendations?

not as posh as you're maybe looking for, but I got some Boots No7 hydraluminous foundation and the matching concealer recently - and they make my 47 year old reddish face look a lot fresher.....

they colour match you with the gadget, so you get a decent shade match without the guess work too

and you might have enough money left for a new lipstick

If it's between those two brands and if you're looking for a low maintenance kind of look I'd veer towards Laura Mercier's tinted moisturiser and one of her caviar stick eyeshadows.

If there is a Space NK near you, you can try LM out with one of their make up artists. I think they are a notch above Mac.

Laura Mercier.

Go to Space NK if you can, they'll help you pick the right products for you.

I love both but for base products I’d go Laura Mercier, especially the tinted moisturiser

somewheresorted · 13/07/2019 20:01

Anyone tried the Laura Mercier illuminated tinted moisturiser? I tried it today but it seemed very pearly and shiny and worried that it would be a bit too much?

MabelMoo23 · 13/07/2019 20:04

For base products absolutely Laura Mercier

Misskittycat16 · 13/07/2019 21:52

Sorry for the late reply.

Thank you for the recommendations, I was leaning towards LM. So so I need a primer and then the tinted moisturiser?

Closed I have read good things about the No 7 Hydraluminous foundation, definitely will give it a go at some point.

Get a Laura Mercier foundation not tinted moisturiser

I don’t always use a primer but when I do I use the Marc Jacobs coconut primer which is lovely
