Can't get false tan off

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/07/2019 12:36

I had a spray tan last Thursday, it was fab for the event but 9 days later I am scaly and patchy and just cannot get rid of it! I've tried several body scrubs, using a flannel and one of those scrubby glove things, shaved my legs etc and it's still awful looking. Help! Is there anything that will actually work because I need to get rid of it today.

I seem to remember that baby oil might work.

IssyM · 13/07/2019 12:59

Veet hair removal cream!

Idontlikeshopping · 13/07/2019 13:00

Google tells me you may need to leave it on for 45 minutes then run with a flannel.

I know it's worked for me in the past.

Bondi Sands Self Tan Eraser from boots. Leave on for 10-15 mins and it will shower right off.

PolkadotLollipop · 13/07/2019 13:01

Chemical exfoliant like glycolic acid painted on. Plus the baby oil idea is a good one.

Biancadelrioisback · 13/07/2019 13:06

You can buy tan eraser and it does honestly work!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/07/2019 13:07

Thanks I'll look for the tan eraser stuff today and if that doesn't work I'll root out the baby oil. Wish me luck Grin

Hot bath with any body oil in it. Soak. Then exfoliate (again, an oil based one is good). Should lift it.

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2019 13:14

Grab your cossie and head for the local swimmimg pool. The chlorine will take it off.
Do not leave Veet on for 45 minutes.

Idontlikeshopping · 13/07/2019 13:22

I DID NOT say to leave Veet on for 45 minutes!!! Or even suggest Veet.

I said baby oil for 45 minutes

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2019 13:29

I didn't say you did.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/07/2019 14:05

Sunblock will break it down.

Idontlikeshopping · 13/07/2019 14:44

So why were you telling op not to leave Veet on for 45 mins? From what I can see nobody suggested leaving Veet on for 45 mind.

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2019 15:07

One post said use Veet and the next one said leave it on for 45 mins, not referring to Veet but to baby oil.
If someone was reading in a hurry they might get it mixed up and end up with very sore skin.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/07/2019 17:16

I got this, fingers crossed it will work this evening!

A long bath then a rub down with a rough towel always works for me!

Bookworm4 · 13/07/2019 17:18

Baking soda and lemon juice mixed into a paste better than any tan eraser &,cheaper.

Pinkvici22 · 13/07/2019 21:50

OP please feedback whether the tan eraser worked!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/07/2019 22:17

It worked a treat! It stung a bit initially but I had just shaved my legs this morning so maybe that made them more sensitive? I left it on for around 15 mins and then scrubbed off in the shower. All clean Smile
So yes, I'd definitely recommend it.

Sea salt or sugar made into a paste with olive oil and lemon juice. Granules scrub, lemon juice bleached and the oil stops it drying your skin. Cheap and cheerful.

MoreSlidingDoors · 13/07/2019 22:53

Problem with anything oil based is that it will affect the next application of tan if you’re doing it again.

MoreSlidingDoors · 13/07/2019 22:54

The oil breaks down the tanning agent. Not lemon juice.

mysteryfairy · 14/07/2019 10:55

Glad the problem is solved. Just adding Korea Italy towels which are little green exfoliating towels which can be bought from eBay, amazon or Asian beauty places for a small sum are really good both for prepping for a fake tan so it stays more even and for removing vestiges of one.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 14/07/2019 18:31

Thanks yes I've read about those towels on MN so many times, I really need to get some!
