Lump on piercing (PIC INCLUDED)

Hello!

I got my tragus pierced I think around 5 months or so ago and this lump has pretty much always been there. I cleaned it pretty much everyday for 8 weeks but I will shamefully admit that I have a habit of touching my piercings which I would imagine didn't help this lump!!

Has anyone else experienced this or have any knowledge as to what it may be? I went to my doctor and she said she didn't think it was infected, but just inflamed..not too sure. I need to go to my piercer when I get the time too

This happened to my friend on her nose and she had to take it out, it healed fine and she got it re-pierced and the same thing happened again

The piercing place will know best, just keep cleaning it every day until you can pop in

This happens with my nose and I changed it to a white gold hoop instead and it healed.

All my other piercings have been gone with the standard metal but for some reason my nose didn't heal at all until I changed it.

Kleoid scar?

canonlyhopexo · 11/07/2019 15:38

This happened to my belly button. It was a keloid. I didn't take it out but continuously cleaned it twice a day and let as much air as I could get to it and it healed after about three months. I just perservered with it. I was advised not to take it out in case it was infection that got sealed in when the hole closed over

It's a jealous scar, you can get special jewelry that will help reduce it.

*keloid!

I get these with every piercing I've had - they're keloid bumps. Refrain from putting tea tree oil etc, the bumps will suck the oil up. Warm water with salt on a cotton pad, hold it on twice a day and it should go down. I never took my piercings out as it was a waste of money! I have no scarring or anything now btw

hypertrophic?

Can you go back and ask your piercer?

Touching your piercing will not help it heal. Keep your hands to yourself. Dont get any product, moisturiser or makeup or hands on it

Defo keloid..very common with piercings. To reduce them:
Boiling water with salt in a bowl and steam your ear for a week or so, you will be surprised as it works!

Ellapaella · 11/07/2019 16:19

Looks a bit like keloid scarring to me.

usernameee · 11/07/2019 18:23

Thank you everyone!

I was considering taking it out but I will give it a few more months and try the salt soak twice a day. I have also read that crushing aspirin and making a paste with a couple drops of water can really help clear them up.

I also catch all my piercings on towels, my hair, my boyfriend if he hugs me or anything so I'll have to try extra hard not to let it get caught on anything!

Extremely common occurrence unfortunately.

I’m currently healing a conch with a bump that comes and goes. I actually swapped for a bioplast/bioflex bar because of the location so there was a small amount of flexibility- plus part of my problem was the oversized bar they initially did the piercing with was rocking too much. Definitely go to your piercer for advice if you aren’t up for changing it out yourself so soon though.
