Too insecure for a spray tan?

Hi all I have a big event next week and a family member has offered to do me a spray tan which sounds great but I think I'm too self conscious about my body to do it. I don't even wear bikinis. I'm only a size 12 but very insecure!

Is it as bad as you think getting your body out?

I would say they've seen it all before and it'll be over in a flash, you'll be putting your clothes back on before you know it!

You might even if feel better for having faced your fear too Smile

I share your concerns! I’m a size 10-12 so objectively I know I’m slimmer than average (I’m tall too). However I have really saggy droopy boobs! I would have to lift them to get the tan underneath which makes me BlushBlush

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/07/2019 06:47

I did a spray tan course, feel free to lift those boobs up!.

There would be no customers if only perky breasted 18yo had tans.

Jesse70 · 11/07/2019 12:14

U are over thinking it if u want it go for it every one is different and like others have said they have seen it all and no one is perfect so try not to worry it might even boost your confidence
I always feel better when tanned although I always self tan

IhaveALooBrush · 11/07/2019 12:19

WineInTheSun if it makes you feel any better I'd have to lift my boobies and my bum cheeks
Blush

I had my first ever spray tan yesterday. I’m almost 40, and have been through cancer and two pregnancies. Let’s just say nothing is where it started off Grin and it was fine! I’m feeling lots more confident for our family wedding tomorrow and have noticed that all my wobbly bits look a lot better with a tan.

redpickle · 11/07/2019 12:27

Maybe it's because it's a family member - why not try a salon first if you can? That way you can find out what's involved and get your relation to do it in future?

MohairMenace · 11/07/2019 12:39

I have a friend who is staggeringly beautiful and does some modelling, we were away on holiday a few years ago (when we were about 29/30) and she said she had to lift up her breasts (and her bottom slightly, which isn’t fat at all, just soft/ untoned tissue) when having a spray tan. No one is exempt from glorious womanly folds!

Beauticians have literally seen it all before, you have nothing to be self conscious about.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/07/2019 21:01

Do you have to be naked or can you wear a bikini or swimming costume?
I suppose you wouldn't have the embarrassment if you went to one of those booths.
Do people think spray tans give a good result in general?

purplecorkheart · 11/07/2019 21:09

What are you wearing to the event? Look at the areas that are covered verses the areas that need to be spray tanned. For example wear a string top (that you are happy to get stained). and take down the straps chest to match where your outfit will seat. Give an extra inch of so. Like wise were short pants (name of knickers that go beyond you bikini line in my local department store).

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/07/2019 06:39

You can wear a bikini or old bra/pants for a spray tan.

You need a patch test 24hrs before.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/07/2019 18:56

Would a booth be a better option?

mysteryfairy · 13/07/2019 23:35

I used to get spray tans occasionally for weddings before I made a conscious decision to stay pale. I’m ashamed to say I deliberately sought out a larger beautician rather than go to my regular and very petite beautician.

Sunshinegirlgogogo · 20/07/2019 23:47

Just try iT.
I am 55, overweight and I can do iT, so you can too.
I do wear a black bra and knikkers, though:-))
Let us know how you got on?

Gwenhwyfar · 21/07/2019 13:10

I've just gone for a spray tan in an automatic machine. There are bits where it looks a bit orange and fake, but generally looks good so I would recommend that for a shy person.

ElspethFlashman · 21/07/2019 13:49

The last time I went for a spray tan she congratulated me on my pregnancy. I was a size 14 and had never been pregnant in my life. Sad

So fuck that. Now I put Isle of Paradise drops in my regular lotion and only do the bits that show. It's fantastic. Easily as good as a spray tan.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/07/2019 17:28

I had one done for my 50th . I wore the paper thong knickers and IIRC , had to lift my arms above my head to do my ribs/boobs .

I didn't have to lift my bumcheeks though (maybe I look better there than I thought , can't really twist enough to see my buttocks)

It is bloody cold though Shock

Senoritaforever · 21/07/2019 17:31

It doesn’t bother me at all as in I don’t feel self-conscious but I wouldn’t be comfortable if a family member was doing it!
