Why do next sale items take so long?

If I order something from the main site it will be delivered the next day but my sale items will be delivered in about 8 weeks.
Surely they’re in stock, it doesn’t make any sense to me, any ideas?

They've got to make them and ship them first!

That's my hunch anyway!

Some of it are things by other brands and some I have definitely seen on the main stock pages previously. It’s weird

The expect a certain amount of returns from sales.

I once ordered a dress in the sales and I totally forgot about it. 4 months later I received it!

Yep, it's based on expectation of returns. Your goods can't be despatched until other customers return them. If they dont receive them (they normally do) then your order gets cancelled.

That’s awful. So I’m ordering stuff that’s basically already been bought by someone and is in their home being tried on! I have no problem buying stuff someone’s returned but if I order something I want to know it’s in stock and I’m going to actually receive it!

Yep. I've got a 6 week wait for some of my sale items! Although one actually turned up yesterday.

I have often received items from Next with labels cut off and stinking of sweat.

I must have been lucky. Ordered lots of things on Wednesday 3rd and collected it all on Sunday.

I will be returning over half of it though. Needed a dress for my daughters graduation next week so ordered a selection from Boden, Phase Eight and Coast. I was worried that I might not receive them in time because previously some items have taken weeks to arrive.

Sales never take long to come, most stuff arrives in store within days. I don't understand why they say 8 -12 weeks or whatever but I've never bought anything in the sale that has taken anywhere near that long.

I hope it won’t take as long as it says it will. My DH has ordered a suit for a wedding we’re going to in two weeks....

It's really annoying and a lot of the time some things just never turn up. I did an order, half came within a couple weeks but the rest will be August sometime. I will bet at least one thing just won't arrive. Often things turn up a bit sooner than they say.

I ordered too and it gives a rough estimate of several weeks for most of the items. As you say sometimes it arrives sooner other times not. I've also had items cancelled in the past which is annoying especially if you've logged on the presale, surely they should only sell what they actually have in stock at that point.

To be honest i always assumed that sales stock.was held in one warehouse rather than a few like none sale stock. Never thought of waiting for returns.

Its also to do with the amount of orders received... I work in a small next and over sale we receive 700-800 parcels every day for 3/4 weeks after sale day.
