nails for interview?

Just found out I got an interview next week for a legal secretarial position in a law firm but I got my nails CND'd in a light pink glitter on Monday.

Should I suck it up and have it removed?

Can you paint over a more neutral colour for the interview, then remove with a non-acetone polish remover after?

TheCatThatDanced · 10/07/2019 11:47

Can you do that with CND nails ATowelAndAPotato? Just gutting I got this sparkly glitter done on Monday!

I have done in the past and it seemed fine although took a while to dry.

If you were thinking of taking it off anyway, then it’s worth a go!

Paint over them, I did it for the same reason, choose a serious work or professional colour (I did dark red)

TheCatThatDanced · 10/07/2019 15:50

I think I'll paint over them with a nice matte colour but slightly gutting that the lovely sparkles will stay hidden....

I’m probably in the minority but I think I’d just leave them! If you make sure the rest of you is super smart, neutral and professional then I would just hold your hands in your lap when you sit and don’t flash them about too much. It’s okay to have a bit of personality, surely?!

What type of job is it?

I interview quite a bit it wouldn't occur to me to be swayed by someone's nail colour.

I might notice horrid long pointy acrylic extensions or dirty nails but that's about it.

TheCatThatDanced · 10/07/2019 16:11

it's a law firm - legal secretary job

Fairylea - am thinking I could just gloss over it as it were during the interview - not paint the bloody things!

At Easter I had another interview and had bright green nails - did get those removed as they wouldn't have been suitable at all.

I'd leave them but would dress super smart for the interview.

BogglesGoggles · 10/07/2019 18:00

I would paint over it in a nude colour or remove it. I doubt they will really care but it’s not really the done thing to have coloured nails in the more corporate places (although expectations are usually lower for secretaries.

DuchessDumbarton · 10/07/2019 18:37

Ummm....it's tough one.
Do you really want the job?
If so, I'd suck it up, have the glitter ones removed and get a clear or very neutral polish instead.
You don't want to be neck-to-neck with another candidate and have something small, such as "she won't fit in here glittery nails" dock points that lose you the job.

Law is pretty tame and conservative for the main part.

IkeaIsForWinners · 10/07/2019 18:42

Leave them! No one will care if they are just pink glitter

Swiftier · 10/07/2019 19:52

Is it gel you have on? If so you can definitely paint over them with regular polish and then remove it afterwards. Just use a polish remover that is acetone free.

purplecorkheart · 10/07/2019 20:02

Honestly I would paint over with a neutral nail varnish. It will probably take a few coats to hide it. Once you use an none acetone nail varnish to remove it should not affect the shellac beneath.
