As in DIY without totally ruining my nails?

And if so how?!

Just the same way as the salon does it. Acetone and a good buffer but it's time consuming and if you end up picking and peeling at them it'll damage your nails.

You can get foils to wrap around your nails which is often quicker than soaking alone but make sure you break the surface of each nail with the buffer first

What kind of extensions are they?

Some will be able to be removed by soaking in acetone and gentle scraping.

Some hard gel is file off, which is a bit laborious and you risk damaging you nail by over filing

I wouldn’t. If you do it wrong you’ll ruin the nail.
