Trousers for wedding

It's taken me 37(ish) years to realise I really, really hate skirts and dresses. My best friend is getting married in the winter and I'd like to look lovely but avoid the above.

Any advice on what I should wear? And where to buy them? Nice trousers and a top or a suit? Or a jumpsuit (although I always feel too short for them...)

I'm 5.5 and a size 12/14 so wide leg trousers tend not to be the most flattering on me.

Thanks!

monsoon have a lovely navy and khaki muted suit at the mo (sort of zebra striped but not brash. it has lovely peg leg trousers and a slim jacket, would look lovely for a wedding

In winter I'd find it a great excuse to get a velvet or brocade suit.

A velvet or brocade suit would be fabulous. Or a jumpsuit with a short cape.

I wore a gorgeous chocolate brown 70s style velvet trouser suit for my brothers wedding, with a gold top underneath and gold accessories, It was fabulous and I got many compliments on it. I have since worn it several times as a suit and frequently worn the jacket with jeans and maxi skirts.
