Up Do!

I have a black tie event this weekend and the dress and jewellery I have I think would more suit an up do than hair down.

I'm not very good with hair. I can just about manage a decent pony tail! I don't have time to get it done properly - I'm at work then have to travel to the event and will have around an hour to get ready. My hair is brown, shoulder length and layered. It's growing out a short-ish bob. Does anyone have any ideas for a quick, easy and elegant up do that I can do myself (or rope DH into helping if it's easy enough!)

Have a look at tutorials on YouTube.

The Small Things Blog (on youtube or google for the website) has some great tutorials for up-dos.

I bought this recently. There are some styles on the card it comes on, but loads on You Tube if you have a look. Takes a bit of practice (and a bit of hairspray) but looks very smart.

French twist? Sarah anguis just posted a tutorial on her Instagram. Depends on how much 'grip' your hair has tho.

Thank you all - I'll take a look at you tube. I did have a quick look but haven't had enough proper time to sit down and study!

If your hair is layered and you find even a ponytail challenging, I really think attempting an up do in a hurry, with little practice, is going to be difficult.
Can you get to a hairdresser at lunchtime? Or is there a colleague who might be able t o help straight after work?
Personally I'd skimp on the getting ready time and prioritize getting to a hairdresser.

Where is the event? I've used a company before who come to your hotel and do your hair and make up.
