Redheads going grey - Which colours do you use to cover?

I am a redhead (light/medium red with gold cast) and they greys are starting to come through thick and fast around my hairline and parting. I want to cover it but unsure. I don't want fire engine red or anything that looks unnatural. I have tried auburn tones but they have a violet/purple base that dyes my white bits a pinker shade of red! Can anyone recommend natural looking box dyes please?

It’s so hard, I have never found a proper box dye that I’ve been happy with. I’ve also tried getting my hair dyed / low lighted / highlighted at a salon, but again haven’t loved the results. This Superdrug cheapy is the best thing I’ve found. I use it about once every 3 washes, which seems to be enough. It catches the greys round my temples and parting and gives them a bit of colour so they are not as obvious.

Second that! I alternate with the auburn gold one!

Thank you for oyur suggestions - can I just ask if the superdrug shampoo actually covers the greys and how long does it last? I looked at the website and they have a colour called copper blonde which is roughly my shade. xx

It does (sort of) cover greys - enough to make mine unoticeable anyway. I have lots of tones running through my hair, and it leaves greys the colour of the lightest tone on me. It lasts about 2 shampoos - I re do mine every 3rd shampoo (ish) - so about weekly (it’s really easy to use, you just leave it on for 5 mins). It’s only £1.99 and washes out, so not much to lose by trying it - good luck!

Alys Fowler providing some redhead going grey naturally inspiration. My hair is not as red but I've got it short and haven't dyed it. I'm nearly 50 and less grey than Alys though so I'm at the age that some people talk about ditching the dye and if people comment on it it's to say 'you don't have much grey'.
