Products that live up to the hype.

I’m a bit of a sheep when it comes to cosmetics and always buy the top rated products and usually end up being underwhelmed. I wonder whether it’s me not using the products properly or is it a bit Emperors New Clothes and no one wants to be the first to say, actually it’s a bit rubbish.

Recently I finally treated myself to Laura Mercier Illuminating tinted moisturiser and I have to say it is awesome. My skin looked amazing when I used it for the first time today. Several people told me I was looking really well.
It is an expensive product but i only had to use a tiny bit so I expect it will last a fair while.
What products would you say are as good as people generally claim and what products that are supposed to be amazing do you think are just hype? Be interesting to hear from MNetters.

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil . Smells lovely and I don''t need a moisturiser after on my skin.
But if I do choose to there's :
Nuxe Dry Oil . I took a tiny 5ml bottle on holiday (been kicking about a while because I never had time ) it smells amazing, dries well on the skin and leaves it so soft .

Another vote for ColourWow Dreamcoat. It's amazing stuff.

No. 7 Hydraluminous foundation. It's great and so cheap! Wish I'd tried it before I shelled out for more Chantecaille Future skin ( which is amazing but x4 the price)

Rimmel Insta Fix and Matte powder.

Maybelline instant eraser concealer thing with the sponge applicator.
Finally tried it and very pleased.

Nip + Fab glycolic pads, tried the Superdrug dupe but not on par.

Estee Lauder pure envy lipstick range, really delivers colour and moisture.

Origins drink up mask, used this for years and would still rebuy.

Anything hourglass

Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter.

Ameliorate.

Retinol / tretinoin.

Acid toners.

Dry body brushing.

Botox.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, I use it twice a week and it’s transformed my hair.

Ameliorate for KP

Essie base coat and gel top coat - makes nail varnish last ages

Lancôme Skin Feels Good - half way between foundation and tinted moisturiser - great for summer

@HappyLoneParentDay - look up Wayne Goss on Youtube - he does a very short video where he's posted a long list underneath of which Ordinary products to use for each type of skin problem. Absolutely invaluable.

No one's mentioned Fenty Beauty. It's more DD's thing than mine, but she gave me two matchstix formula birthday with the brush. DD uses quite a lot of her stuff, in particular the lip gloss bombs

I can’t live without Glossier Boy Brow - I have patches due to overplucking and it works a treat without being mad money.

Nars sheet glow foundation. I went from never wearing foundation to wearing this every day, even if I wear nothing else.
