Anyone straightened their teeth as an adult

Hi.
I hate my wonky front teeth and thinking of getting either veneers, wire braces or Invisalign.
The pain, length of time and cost are putting me off braces or Invisalign and I’ve heard veneers damage your own teeth.
Has anyone else had their teeth straightened and if so would you do it again?
Thanks

Late 40s here. Just over half through my treatment - metal braces here, chosen as faster and cheaper than invisalign. I was warned that my teeth would get worse as I aged, requiring more intensive treatment.

Delighted with progress - total length will be around 6 months.

The number of comments (mostly from adults) suggest that retainers are a must - some had braces as a teen but then their teeth moved again. Also many are intrigued as they're thinking of having theirs done too. Go for it.

Has anyone had to have teeth removed to have braces/Invisalign?

I was going to get mine done years ago, I went for the consultation. She said that I was suitable for Invisalign despite being a complex case. But, I'd have to have 4 teeth removed due to overcrowding.

This put me right off. I just wondered if this was the norm?

I have an overbite and ortho said if I had teeth out the end result teeth wise would be better - but my top lip wouldn't be as full. I like my lips and are more noticeable imo than teeth so have braces but kept teeth! 5 months in and results are 'significant movement' were his words.

@idontlikeshopping
My friend is having Invisalign at the same orthodontist as me and she has had to have teeth removed whereas I haven't....instead I have some enamel filed off from inbetween my teeth to make more space. I think I've had 3 lots of it in a year.

It may be worth getting a second opinion anyway, in 4 years Invisalign technology has improved and maybe things would be different now? 🤷

At the moment I’m leaning towards the fixed braces as I’m hoping it’ll be quicker than Invisalign. However it it involves any teeth out then I may change my mind.
Was all the pain definitely worth it? And would you recommend ceramic or the metal version.
Thanks everyone
