Is there a razor that won't cut me?

I like to wet shave my legs because it's convenient and quick, however, I always end up cutting myself (usually around my knees). I am currently using a Gillette Venus Comfortglide which wasn't cheap but I'm still getting painful cuts every time.

Is there a razor that is guaranteed not to cut me? I'm quite clumsy as I don't have great dexterity in my hands. I don't really want to use hair removal cream as they're fiddly and messy (although not as messy as the bloodbath that ensues when I shave).

Use the sort that has the blade set in block of shaving soap.

I agree with above. I only ever use Venus with Olay shave gel bars built in. It's so much easier, just wet blade, shave, rinse, done. They both smell lovely as well and leave my skin nice and soft because of the Olay.

Have you tried a wet and dry electric shaver? Might be less risky.

I use Bulldog razors with the bamboo handle. Men's give a better result.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 05/07/2019 10:03

Honestly I think it's more your technique than the razor blade.

trackingmedown · 05/07/2019 10:22

I use the Intuition ones. You don’t get cut but it also doesn’t shave as close as a traditional blade. It looks fine but you don’t get that lovely smooth feeling.

Yes I agree olay razors the best for in the shower

bigfatfeet · 05/07/2019 12:21

Have you tried the Gilette Venus Swirl - it's the one with the Dyson-like ball. I have the same issues as you and something about the way the head moves makes it much better - combined with using a shower oil to shave, I very rarely cut myself now.

Can’t go wrong with the women’s bic razor imo

Use hair conditioner instead of soap or shave gel/foam. Honestly it will revolutionise your shaving experience Grin (and you don't need to moisturise afterwards).

I always used to have this problem especially with gillet razors. I use Wilkinson sword Quattro now and it's never ever cut me.

ChristineBaskets · 05/07/2019 19:39

Thank you all for your comments. The Gillette Venus comfortglide that I use has soapy stuff with it but it still cuts me! I agree it's probably my technique.

I will try conditioner and then one of the razors recommended if that doesn't work. And if I still get cuts then I suppose it's hair remover cream for me!

I find the Gillette Snap razor really easy to use, much easier than the long handled versions.

Are you shaving the knee area with your leg straight or bent? I bend my knee completely, so the calf is resting on the back of my thigh as it makes the skin tight. I would get cuts if mine was straight.

Also agree with using hair conditioner.

ChristineBaskets · 05/07/2019 21:04

I usually shave them sitting on the toilet Blush so only partially bent! I will experiment with bending next time.

Exfoliating in the bath/shower first with a loofah or exfoliating gloves really helps avoid cuts

Delatron · 05/07/2019 22:38

I use men’s razors? Cheaper and better..
