What's the point of spray tan?

Am I missing something about spray on fake tans? Not the salon ones, I understand those as they spray you and then when dry you get dressed. But the home spray tans where it's a pump spray bottle. You have to spray and then rub it in with a mitt. So what's the point of being a spray if you still have to run it in? May as well use a lotion or mousse. Also, as they are pump bottles, you can't hold them upside down so it gets awkward to spray some places. And you are forever taking the mitt on and off to spray then spread. Such a faff. And it strays all over the place not just on you. I just don't get the advantage over a mousse or lotion. Enlighten me please

The only advantage I can see is, if the spray works at different angles you can do your back. If the spray is fine enough you don’t need a mitt.

However it goes all over your floor, so I don’t bother.

I sometimes wonder if nervous tanners choose sprays. As if they are gentler and less likely to turn you too orange, or something.

Lotion all the way (or cocoa brown mousse. That is the biz).
