Please help me find a casual wedding outfit

I'm attending my friend's wedding next month in Spain and the event is going to be very informal and low key.

I've been looking for a top to wear which will be flattering and definitely not clingy (I'm a size 22). I'm trying to find something floaty, summery and preferably made of cotton because of the Spanish heat.

Thank you

Sleeves or no sleeves?

Maybe something like a tunic, loose and airy and there are some lovely ones out there. Monsoon has some nice tonic style tops and Boden.

What will you be wearing it with? Skirt?

notastitchtowear · 04/07/2019 19:31

Thanks for your replies.

I would prefer short sleeves to long but definitely something to cover the tops of my arms. I'll probably be wearing shorts or cropped trousers as skirts don't really suit me.

Dresses are much cooler ( temperature wise ) than trousers . Especially loose cotton or silk ones that barely touch the body. And you don’t have to match them up like separates.

What about this ? www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/live-unlimited-maxi-with-overlayer/wg336/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=9063#colour:Ivory,size:22

Remember - when people say a wedding is low key and informal, they don’t actually mean that you should come casually dressed. They still want you dressed up, just a different kind of dressed up.

I love that first dress Rosemary. The third is nice too- great colour.

I think Rosemary is right OP; you don’t want to turn up and feel too casual, but those dresses (I’m not keen on the second one) are summery and casual, but with a bit of flair.

Thank you.

Rosemary, trust me, this is going to be casual. The bride and groom are wearing shorts and t-shirts as they don't like getting dressed up.

The bride in shorts and t shirt - that DEFINITELY is casual!

Good for her, doing it her own way.

I'd go for layers, wide loose linen trousers and a long linen top. You can dress them up or down with accessories. The tourist markets in Spain are full of them so if you aren't sure about whatever you bring it's worth a look once you get there.

Black or white, either one would be lovely. Linen trousers, or jeans. Espadrille shoes and a floppy summer hat!

Or chino shorts - khaki or a dusky pink, maybe!
