Question about Pandora bracelets!

Hiya, hoping this is the right place to put this!

I'm thinking about getting my little sister a starter Pandora bracelet for Christmas and a little Disney charm to go with it (shes going on her first ever trip to DisneyWorld shortly after Christmas so I thought that would be cute!)

She'll be very nearly 14 by then and I was wondering what size to go for? Shes your typical skinny teenager with very slender wrists so obviously don't want to get her one that will slide right off, however do they need to have a bit of give in order to add more charms in the future?

I'm clueless when it comes to this so I hope someone can help! Smile Thanks in advance!

Are you certain that it will be her style? At 14 most youngsters have a very definite idea of what they like and don't like in terms of jewellery. Mine would have hated Pandora at age 14. When you first described it as cute with a Disney charm I thought you were buying it for a 10 yo!

Ninkaninus · 04/07/2019 10:22

There is a guideline on the website to allow for the correct size; it depends on what style of bangle or bracelet you get. You need a measurement of her wrist in order to get the correct size. Or, if she’s very skinny, you could go ahead and get the smallest size, I guess. But that’s a risk if you’re buying it now as she won’t be able to exchange for a different size if needed.

I agree though, I’m not sure it’ll be her thing - it depends if Pandora is sought after or considered nice in her circle. Do her friends wear them?

I might get her a pandora leather braided bracelet instead, they are nicer IMO and fit well with what teenagers of that age tend to wear, and would also look perfectly good with only one charm on it whereas the silver bangles look a bit wrong unless they have a selection of charms.

Apolloanddaphne · 04/07/2019 10:27

I agree that a leather braided bracelet would probably be better in terms of her age.

PastaSauceHoarder · 04/07/2019 10:36

I definitely think she'd like it, she likes what she likes and isn't the kind of girl who tries to follow whatever everyone else is doing/wearing. And the Disney charm is just a nice nod to the fact that shes finally going to DisneyWorld after a whole childhood of asking! Grin

I was looking at the black braided bracelet, looks less 'dressy' and more everyday wear. I would get her the smallest size but if she wanted to add more charms in the future would it make the bracelet tighter so to speak, due to the chunkiness of the charms?

If you get it according to the size guidelines on the website then she’ll be able to add more charms to it (up to about 6 or something I think it is), but she won’t be able to fill it up completely like you do with the bangles.

PastaSauceHoarder · 04/07/2019 10:41

This is the bracelet and charm I was looking at.

I like the black bracelet but I don't like the charm at all. It looks very childish. But she is your DSis and you know her best so if you think she will like it then go for it.

Ninkaninus · 04/07/2019 10:48

I think that’s really cute and if you know she’ll like it then it’s a great present to mark her bigger present of getting to go to Disney world, plus it’ll be perfect to wear when she goes! She will definitely be able to add more charms to it.

PastaSauceHoarder · 04/07/2019 11:06

Thats helpful @Ninkaninus, thank you! I do like the fact she could add a few more charms in the future if she wanted to. Think I'll go with that one then! Smile

My DD 12 is very slim and I was going to buy her a 16' but the lady in the store said to go for 17' as once it's full of charms she'll need the extra space. She was right.

Your sister will love those Disney ears charm, it's very cute.

Don't get that bracelet though get a proper metal one like this. it has the 2 bumps to stop the charms sliding around too much. Obvs there are ones with different clasps etc. The charms do twist over the bumps.

The charm is not childish at all. Everyone likes has different tastes in charms so buy her what you know she will like.

CakeInMyFace · 04/07/2019 19:34

I like the charm too! I also see adults wearing Disney charms and definitely not childish in any way. I'm sure she will love it!

Someaddedsugar · 04/07/2019 21:42

@PastaSauceHoarder I used to work for Pandora and just thought I’d add that the rope leather bracelets do give slightly when worn with charms due to the weight.

I’d suggest the 17cm bracelet given the age of 14.

The silver bracelet @TantricTwist mentioned has space for ‘clips’ - the two bumps - that helps by splitting the bracelet into three sections which can help with balancing your bracelet. A safety chain might be worth investing in as the catch can come loose if not fully closed.

releasethehounds · 04/07/2019 21:54

Both my DDs had Pandora bracelets for their 13th birthdays and still add charms to them years later.

It's not the end of the world if the bracelet you buy turns out to be too big, I took DD1's to a Pandora store and they resized it at a reasonable price.

Caramelblonde · 04/07/2019 22:14

My son bought me a Pandora bracelet in Dubai ,it was way too small but local UK store exchanged it,no problem! Have 2 now,one full of charms and one I wear with just the heart clasp, love them .

PastaSauceHoarder · 08/07/2019 20:53

Ah thank you everyone for the helpful replies! Smile I went with the Disney charm and was really pleased when it arrived the other day, so much more little and delicate than I thought it would be!

I'll buy the bracelet soon, thank so much for the advice. 17cm sounds like the right size!
