Evening all. I’m 12 weeks pregnant and whilst I’m usually very petite, I’ve piled on the pounds during the first trimester due to food aversions. 🙁 So, this is what I’m looking for...

My very good friend is getting married and I need to find a dress to wear. It needs to be midi (calf length) or maxi. I’ve put on weight round my tummy, hips and bottom, so need something cut to flatter over those areas. I’m open to maternity wear, but don’t think it necessarily needs to be maternity yet (if the cut is right). I like colour, pattern, florals, vintage-style and am happy to wear something statement-y but need something to that hides the pounds, so no body-con! I was a size 6-8 pre-pregnancy and think I’m probably an 8-10 now.

Would be super-grateful for some suggestions and links would be awesome! Thank you. x

I know this is v cheap but it's seriously gorgeous. I'm your size and carry all my weight on my tummy and legs. I bought this as a casual dress to keep me cool on holiday but it was so lovely when it arrived that I wore it to a wedding last weekend with heels, and got loads of compliments. I'm 5'2 and it is a maxi on me (at the back at least) despite them saying midi.

As I stuffed myself at the wedding I was able to let the wrap part out a bit to stay comfy.

The only problem with the dress is that it's fairly see-through, but I have a cotton dress liner I bought off eBay for a fiver and that does the trick.

There are pretty maternity dresses at Hope and Ivy but also a few other possibilities in the main collection.

What's you budget? Do you prefer strong or delicate colours?

Thanks candles, definitely going to get that dress anyway - great shout!

Margaritas - thank you. I really like the H&I dress, just a shame so many of them are polyester. I mostly wear strong colours, but think I could manage pastel for a wedding l. Budget is about £100. x
