Why is it so hard to find a 100% cotton or linen dress?

Very frustrating, I have enough viscose and IT IS NOT THE SAME. Hate polyester. Size 6, so Next often doesn't work for me.

How do you feel about linen shifts? I’ve bought some in White Stuff and Aspiga this year. 100% cotton but they do need ironing.

The patterns are awful but the plain colours looks fine.

@Stumpedasatree the pp just reminded me I bought a size six linen shift from white stuff & it’s fits really nicely also doesn’t swamp me length wise I’m 4ft 10 so usually everything is too long, I’m also definitely going to have a RL look in mango as saw some lovely dresses on the website, but can’t be bothered to order shedloads to try out sizing.

Branster · 03/07/2019 17:53

Re Mango I find their clothes in Spain fit a slender shape way better than their stock in the UK. No idea why but I never found something that fits well enough on me in their UK store, but they do have a bit more choice on cotton.

Ooh thanks @Branster I’m off to Menorca next week & will check out Mango.

Good luck! And have a look at the independent local shops as well.

Muji, Uniqlo. Muji especially. Both designed for petite bodies.

Teddybear45 · 04/07/2019 11:29

You would be better off with an Asian brand. Uniqlo is too generous but Superdry, Muji are good. Also TK Max often stocks South Korean brands. All of them have cotton dresses.

Aspiga. Expensive but fabulous quality. Bought an incredibly flattering 100% linen dress

Fifthtimelucky · 04/07/2019 13:54

My latest discovery is Patra. Most clothes are cotton, linen, silk or bamboo.

Branster · 04/07/2019 15:37

Teddybear45, you are right, I forgot Superdry do a good fit for skinny people. Their leather jackets fit me perfectly (only bought from outlet store they are very expensive otherwise) but never tried any of the dresses though.
Hollister do small fit clothes and I saw some nice cotton tops there so assume they do cotton dresses as well. I refuse to buy my own clothes there because they consistently bled me dry when DD was growing up (can’t see the prices properly they are in tiny writing, it’s dark, full of indecisive kids, always ends up agreeing to buy anything just to leave the stupid shop).

What’s your price range? There’s loads of gorgeous handmade linen dresses out there that you can have made-to-measure. Epic Linen, Simply Grey Life, Isle of Shee, Not Perfect Linen, Son De Flor are a few I can think of off the top of my head! All around £70-100ish though
