jeez, MY EYES! Some of the fabrics of plus size dresses out there are horrendous!

Seasalt
Fatface

Honestly, is this a punishment for not being small enough?

Please send help!

Box2 have some plain linen dresses. www.box2.co.uk/clothing/dresses-jumpsuits/linen-dresses/?size=&colour=

Try lagenlook.co.uk they have loads of linen in plain

parpsqueak · 01/07/2019 12:48

Great thank you!

I've actually gone back for another look at next and I've ordered a couple of dresses. I'll have a mooch at the other suggestions too.

Happy trying on Smile

FWIW I completely agree with you on the fabric and patterns at the moment. Synthetic and garish seems to rule above size 16!

CatherineMaitland · 01/07/2019 15:07

How plus size is plus size? M&S seem to go up to 22 (and sizing is sometimes quite generous) and have some nice plain dresses in cotton and linen this year.

parpsqueak · 01/07/2019 17:27

size 18 (vanity sizing) probably a 24 at other places!

I"ll have a look at M&S thanks. I don't think I've ever managed to get a good fit there so I've not actually looked for years!

I got a gorgeous plain green linen dress in Seasalt recently, and some pretty cotton A line dresses with non-garish patterns. They also don't have a specific plus size range, they just do a larger size range.

I don't know what size you are, but Cos is the best place to find natural fibres at reasonable prices. They go up to size 18 but a lot of their stuff is oversized so can fit a size or two bigger than that. The quality is by far the best on the high street for the price.

sonjadog · 01/07/2019 20:40

I feel your pain, OP. There are some horrors of dresses out there.

EleanorReally · 01/07/2019 20:41

i dont mind the patterns, but cannot find dresses that are not polyester! Angry

sonjadog · 01/07/2019 20:47

I've got a lot of summer dresses on Etsy. Much more interesting styles and nice fabrics. They cost a bit more, but the quality is much better than in the stores.

BestIsWest · 01/07/2019 20:48

Those Next dresses are very short though. I have a plain navy linen from Seasalt which is really nice.

Lucked · 01/07/2019 20:49

I agree than M&S have lots more natural fibres this year but I need to stop buying linen - I float about thinking I look summery and then catch sight of myself and realise I resemble a used dishrag.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 01/07/2019 21:43

I think it's a summer thing that afflicts all dresses, not just plus size ones. As soon as the sun comes out, the designers think "PATTERNS! Fuck yeah! Let's always be sure to use colour combinations that ensure there will always be one shade that doesn't suit you!"

Having said that, this is nice:

www.jdwilliams.co.uk/shop/monsoon-dolly-stripe-midi-dress/AD265/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=1156#colour:Blue,size:18

It has adjustable sleeves so you don't have to have your arms out if you don't want to, it's cotton, and it's available up to a 24 I think.

sonjadog · 01/07/2019 22:00

I have that Monsoon dress in black check (small checks). It isn't the most flattering dress I own, tbh. The skirt is a bit too poofy.

Secondsop · 01/07/2019 23:07

Navabi? Has a huge selection generally so there’s bound to be something you like.

parpsqueak · 02/07/2019 10:23

I have also tried that dress on but it was a really bad fit for me - tight at the middle and gaping on the bust. I was really disappointed!

Last time I tried Navabi they were all really voluminous and made me feel enormous! I'll have a look to see if there's anything more fitted now.

Navabi has loads of brands so there’s bound to be something you like. I like Zizzi, Zhenzi, and Mat the best.

www.woolovers.com/womens/dresses/womens-pocket-pinafore-dress-grey-13822
this is nice and described as both voluminous and relaxed!
