Sandals for 11 year old boy

Going to Spain in a few weeks so it will be very hot.

I'm looking for some sandals that 11 year old ds would find acceptable to wear in the evening.

He's got sliders and flips flops for during the day for round the pool.

I thought possibly these? He's very much into sportswear. Honest opinions?

Ask him ...?

afromom · 30/06/2019 22:50

My DS is older (15), but I don't think he would have worn them at 11 I'm afraid. He always just wears trainers in the evening.

moomoogalicious · 30/06/2019 22:52

Just no! Trainers are fine.

formerbabe · 30/06/2019 22:52

My ds is 11 and refuses sandals...he loves Nike and I asked if i found Nike sandals, would he wear them and he said yes. He'd definitely wear those ones.

longhaulstress · 30/06/2019 22:56

My 11 year old ds wouldn't wear them. Think it's the heel strap on the back makes them look a little babyish.
Most boys seem to wears sliders/flip flops for day and then over the age of 6 they all seem to wear trainers of an evening.

Dungarees · 30/06/2019 22:59

Thanks, I will ask him in the morning but to be honest anything I suggest is met with either "no", or "I don't care".

He will say he'll just wear his trainers, but it's going to be so hot I want him to feel comfortable.

I think you're going to struggle to get an 11 year old into sandals. Sliders by day, trainers by night.

Boom25 · 30/06/2019 23:01

I know a lot of 11y old boys and only the most nerdy (sorry) would wear those. They'd wear sliders (with socks!) or trainers at night.

I know this because I had thid argument with my 11y old in Spain last year. He wanted to gi out round the town in sliders and socks at night and I laughed and said don't be silly. He said everyone will be wearing them. Sure enough, all males under 19 and over 9 were wearing sliders and socks. What do we know about fashion or style eh?

Dungarees · 30/06/2019 23:01

Gosh how did I become so old and uncool?!

Um ugh. And Nike not cool - it’s adidas now.

Dungarees · 30/06/2019 23:04

Socks with sliders? Oh wow. I really am out of touch lol.

I know! I was astounded.

RomaineCalm · 30/06/2019 23:06

Sorry but my 12yr old wouldn't wear those Nike sandals and he not at all cool.

In the evenings on holiday he'll wear a pair of Toms canvas shoes or his trainers. A pair of Converse might be another option.

Dungarees · 30/06/2019 23:12

I guess this is why I'm struggling to find any sandals in his size, The only one I can are for men aged 35+

Thanks, I shall not place any orders until I've asked him.
