Nars- sheer glow foundation and creamy concealer

Have you used either/both and what are your thoughts? I've been a double wear wearer for a while now and trying to decide whether to mix things up a bit. Particularly for the summer I like the idea of a less Matt foundation but not one that will run down my face and not last a full day at work. Heard a lot of good about these but I never trust the reviews on the product site as much as the Mumsnet opinions!
Thanks!

I didn’t find the foundation very glowy to be honest, it wasn’t so flat like double wear though.

I didn’t like it but I also didn’t hate it. The colour match was good for me too. I haven’t bought it since though (I’m too loved up with the £5 Primark one which is the best foundation I’ve ever used!)

The concealer is good. But again, it’s on a par with the Collection one and the Nyx Can’t stop, won’t stop for me.

So to sum up, I don’t mind spending money on stuff but these 2 have better items for me that are cheaper so I have no reason to rebuy if that makes sense!

TheMarbleFaun · 30/06/2019 22:39

I quite like the finish of the Sheer Glow but I think I’ve used better (or at least as good) foundations for less money. I also find the fact that they want an extra £5 for the pump top a bit weird
There’s no spf in it either

ScaryBunnyPainting · 30/06/2019 22:52

I really like the foundation, it’s my go to. I hated the concealer.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 30/06/2019 22:57

@DrBuckles please share the Primark foundation! Is it non-comedogenic?

OP, I haven't tried the foundation always I'd like to! I love the concealer and think it's nothing like the collection one.

Lamentations · 01/07/2019 04:01

I use both, among other things, and like them a lot. The concealer is great, covers well but blends without sitting in lines. The foundation is a nice light coverage. I probably prefer Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and they are similar coverage. You will find it a big change from ELDW but possibly for the better as I think there are very few people who actually need that level of coverage (you may of course but then I doubt you'd be asking about sheer glow). Definitely worth trying something a bit fresher.

justilou1 · 01/07/2019 04:08

Why don’t you try the new Juvia’s Place one? Is that easy to get in the UK? (Am in Aus.....) Has great reviews, great coverage, skin-like feel reminiscent of Nars SG, is cheaper and has better skincare added. Great colour range too. The concealer is supposed to be amazing as well!

justilou1 · 01/07/2019 04:10

PS, my skin doesn’t play nicely with Nars foundations, but is oily/dehydrated pain in arse skin.

Howaboutthisone · 01/07/2019 07:06

Interesting responses thank you!
Yes- I probably don't really need that level of coverage in the summer in particular that's why I was wondering about them. To be honest properly gloat foundation would most likely make me feel too shiny so something just less flat sounds good. Will look at the others also.

Glowy not gloat!

The foundations are great, concealer, are terribly bad and they tend to crease.

lilpumpsmum · 01/07/2019 09:07

I'm a foundation whore, I've so many from all different buts but I love the Nars foundation, I always always go back to it.

Isleepinahedgefund · 01/07/2019 11:40

I hate the foundation, love the concealer!

MooMinCow · 01/07/2019 13:25

Have you tried the Double wear Fresh Nude foundation? Lighter cover and finish than the original but still stays puts. Haven’t tried the NARS foundation but have the concealer. It’s OK, can’t say I love it (I find it creases badly), much prefer the EL doublewear one in the tube or CT Magic Away one

millyh2 · 01/07/2019 21:57

What's your make up routine? How do you apply your primark products etc? I apply make up. Looks great then five minutes before leave the house the foundation on my cheeks has separated and my undereyes have all creased up even with setting with powder and spra. Even tried primer. I love the full coverage and dewy look but just doesnt seem possible! I think with my anxiety and running around being a mum my face builds up a sweat (sorry Tmi) 😩
Would appreciate any tips! Have a very oily and very dry skin 💁‍♀️

Bodicea · 01/07/2019 22:22

It’s become my go to foundation after going through a few. I like my foundation light though so someone who is used to double wear might find it very light.
I often mix with my day moisturiser to lighten the coverage even more.
It’s the best colour match I have ever had. Everything before it either made me a bit grey or orange in my mind.
It’s my first repeat purchase anyway which says something.

piedmontpepper · 01/07/2019 22:23

I love the foundation, I've used it for years on very oily rosacea prone skin and nothing else has come close to it.

I think the concealer is shit and overpriced

Sparklynails77 · 02/07/2019 00:40

I haven't tried it but I've heard that it's not very dewy despite its name. It's quite matte. You should try Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted moisturiser or Clinique's dewy foundation.

Sparklynails77 · 02/07/2019 00:47

You need to really prep your skin before applying foundation and concealer, especially as you have dry skin. I have dry skin so I make sure I apply eye cream, moisturiser, sunscreen and moisturising primer (letting each layer dry) before applying make-up. Avoid really matte products. Your make-up shouldn't go all cakey then (unless you use products that don't work well) Smile

puffyeyedsugarmonster · 02/07/2019 03:41

I moved over from double wear and do much prefer it. As pp have said I would describe it as glowy but the colour match is excellent. It doesn't last as long as double wear obviously but I don't think much does.

I wear the concealer everyday it's the best one I've used

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/07/2019 08:20

The concealer is fine but Collection's Lasting Perfection one does a better job for just £4!

millyh2 · 02/07/2019 08:31

@Sparklynails77

Thank you! I do try and prepare my face well. And used several hydrating primers but not sure if my skin in sensitive as well as all it does is emphasis my physorisis (although I mainly have it in my hands and feet) I probably should have mentioned I have that!
Do you use powders or anything? I find that if I use powders that just clings to my dry spots and if I use setting sprays my sweat eventually dissolves my foundation.

(Sorry sounding very whiny! Just a frustrated mother 😩🙈 spent so much on products and nothing seems to want to stay put!) X

Theseptemberissues · 02/07/2019 08:37

I’ve also moved over to nars from eldw as the shade match was much better for me, plus my face feels nicer (if that makes sense!) Doesn’t last as long however now I’ve started using a setting spray it easily lasts a full day at work. Didn’t rate the nars concealer to be honest, and I’ve tried a lot! My favourite at the moment is the Bobbi brown one in a tube
